SHAR was the facility that I went to treatment to in 2004. I am an alumni of SHAR House, this was an intense in patient program SHAR Men's Program which allowed me to reclaim my life. After a number of years in an addiction this was the place that helped me to reclaim my life back. There have been several programs that I went through, which didn't work but this was the one that worked for me. People who want Recovery will go through anything to gain their own Recovery. You have to do it by any means necessary to get what you want. Nowadays the people who come into SHAR and not able to get the help they need is because they don't want it for themselves. I am still in Recovery since 2004, but that is because I chose do what was needed to get my life together. Since that time I have gone back to school, gotten my own place, employed full time and being responsible for me, without relying on others to take care of my personal needs. If you want help you take the necessary steps to get what you want. It's not about the food, building or the staff it's about saving your own life that should really matter.

If you care at all about your loved ones wellbeing, DO NOT let them go to this facility. They do not have the clients best interest. Recovery is possible but these people are not the ones to help.

SHAR house needs to be SHUT DOWN by the health department. Please take these reviews seriously. I ignored the reviews and decided to take a chance, since they had openings available. BIG MISTAKE!!!! I referred a family member there. When i dropped him off they assured me he was in the best place. That was a lie. When i received a phone call from my family member complaining about his treatment. I called the facility to voice my concerns. The guy that answered the phone was extremely unprofessional. He laughed at me as i was talking. I asked to be transferred to someone in management..... he transferred me to another secretary. She was unprofessional as well. She stated that everyone is off for a week, do to the thanksgiving holiday and there is no one in charge. So i said , your telling me there is absolutely no one in charge right now, she replied " no people have lives too and they deserve a break".
First of all not only is this facility filthy, the building is falling apart. You cant see that from the outside or from the lobby where i dropped him off. Once you go down the hallway it becomes like the twilight zone.... Everything in the building is falling apart or dangerously rigged. For example there are buckets everywhere catching water leaking from the ceilings, nails sticking out everywhere, frayed wires exposed and even the blankets are falling apart. The list goes on and on. They share 10 spoons amongst 70 + patients. So they have to literally wait until someone is done eating, wash off the spoon, then eat. There is no way to justify this... beyond disgusting and unsanitary. He said the food is old and rancid. They were vaccinating everyone with hepatitis D vaccines due to contaminated food and unsanitary conditions. The staff sneaks in things for patients they are cool with. The drug and alcohol abuse is running rampant through this facility. The staff is very unprofessional....Especially the medical staff. He complained for 8 days about not feeling well and high blood pressure. They did nothing about it. He asked the nurse on duty ( her name is Felicia). She stated " If your so concerned about your damn blood pressure check that s**t yourself". Then nurse Felicia proceeded to refer to him as all kinds of Mother F*****S while complaining to everyone (other patients ) about his medical problems. Needless to say he took his own blood pressure.... It was sky high ( 222/119). He notified Nurse Felicia but she did not help him..... she still continued on her rant saying "This Mother F****r is getting on my nerves, can i beat a Mother F****r A** and get away with it" and many more unprofessional derogatory statements. Apparently asking her to take his blood pressure was just too much for her lazy self handle. I called the ambulance. The ems took his blood pressure it was at stroke levels by that time, (258/139) he was transferred to ER immediately. Turns out they dosed him with several antidepressants and antipsychotic medications. He has never taken anything stronger than a motrin before going to SHAR house. He explained that to the medical staff upon intake. He was there for alcohol addiction. They assured him that the medications were just a sleep aid....WOW. I cant understand how this place is still operating. There is so much more I am leaving out. You could right a novel with all the wrong that goes on in that sorry excuse of a so called treatment facility( staff relations, allegations of sexual assault, stolen donations ect ect ect...) . He is in a much better facility now. If you value your life please stay FAR AWAY from this facility.
