Shiki Japanese Restaurant

My husband has been going to Shiki's for almost 40 years and we love the food and the staff who work there very polite and hard working people. The manager/owner always smiles and helpful. Thanks PA

Through birthdays and special events in my life, we always seem to come back here. The food is incredible at a stunning low cost. You hardly have to wait as not many people come here. Convientently, it is placed extremely close to a gas station and the freeway, although neither can be heard from inside the restaurant. The owner encourages the little kids to eat everything on their plate by promising to give them toys if they do, which he fullfils. Overall, it is a great restaurant. I highly recommend you come here and enjoy yourself. For birthdays, this place is perfect, with a complimentary song and cake. About six waiters will come out and sing it to you in Japanese or English, whichever you prefer.

Went for family member's birthday. We had a reservation and were seated right away. Independently owned, I appreciate the personal interest the entire staff had in our experience. The owners were on site (and I'm told they usually are) and made sure to come visit each table, our chef was fantastic and made our birthday girl's night special, and the servers and bussers were friendly and attentive. Food was really great, too. I recommend the filet and scallop combo!

I went here with a friend for a first time visit. The staff was lovely and the steak teriyaki good. But within an hour of getting home, we both had all the unfortunate symptoms of food poisoning. After they subsided, I tried calling the restaurant multiple times over the course of an hour to let them know what had happened, and that we suspected cross contamination in the salad. No one answered the phone. I sent an email. No one ever responded. Because of the non response, we will not be returning.

I have been here twice for the teppanyaki grill. The teppanyaki grill is somewhat more popular in America than it is in Japan. The best way I can describe is that it is a tiny show and dinner. The chef prepares your food right in front of you. The chef usually does a few things with fire. This can be cool and scary all at the same time. The food I had both times was amazing. I did the teppanyaki grill both times. With the teppanyaki you can get one or two choices of meats. It will cost more if you decide to get two kinds of meats. The last time I visited this restaurant the chef was nice and gave us each a taste of each others meats. You get a salad and soup served to you before the chef starts doing his or her thing. You can choose between sticky rice or fried rice.The fried rice is really good. You will also get two shrimp with whatever you order. This also includes a small scoop of ice cream at the end. The restaurant and it's parking lot are behind the gas station. On both occasions that I visited this establishment it was at times when it was not busy, so I do not know how bad it gets.
