I have good things and bad things to say about Silver Star internet after being a customer for 4 years. Good things: + The internet access (DSL) has been stable and reliable at my location, though it surely helps that I am located in town, fairly close to their Alpine DSLAM. + Internet speeds go up and prices drop every few years. + Unlike a lot of major ISPs, they don't throttle or block certain services, and they don't impose monthly data caps on wired internet. + They no longer charge $25/mo for not having landline phone service. It is now $10/mo and they call it a bundle discount. Bad things: - The price is high. - For the entire four years I've been a Silver Star customer, I've subscribed to the fastest internet they can deliver via copper wire, and continually pushed them for more. On multiple occasions I've requested that they install their much-advertised fiber-to-the-home service. They always pull out some number ranging in the tens of thousands of dollars for an install price, and all this so that I can pay them even more every month for one of the most expensive internet connections in the continental USA.
