Great place to take your dog for training. All of the trainers just love on the animals doesn’t matter the size or breed. Before we took our German Shepherd she was always in your face and would not listen, put her in the 10-day program and she came back totally different in a good way. She is so well mannered and behaved. I could not believe the transformation…wow! Highly recommend! When we got her a cousin we did the You & Your Dog training and even that program was a blessing. Now we attend group class with both dogs and we love it. So glad I found Sit Means Sit
I found Sit Means Sit two years ago when my dog Ripley was working on being reactive. She was about a year old and would bark at everyone she saw to the point where people thought she wasn't friendly. She had been through other puppy classes and passed, but in everyday situations, she didn't carry over. Since she started the Sit Means Sit program in March 2022, she has made so much progress! Her main areas were barking at strangers and not reacting to other dogs nearby. We do our best to go to group classes as often as we can when I can after work and practice at home with the collar/remote. She no longer barks at people walking/running, people on bikes, other dogs, or chases cars. She has also been able to go into stores like Lowes /Home Goods and is calm. We recently took her on a trip to Denver a big test for her. We were able to take her to parks, an off leash dog park with a creek, hikes, and restaurants. To be honest, I never thought Ripley would be able to do those things, but she is! If you're committed to the training routine and practice outside of classes, it does pay off. We use the collar as much as we can and in a humane way. We don't use it for punishment, and we give her lots of positive reinforcement. The trainers have been great and supportive. We have had a very positive experience these last two years. Thank you Sit Means Sit for helping Ripley live her life to the fullest!
I read all the horrific 1-star reviews. I decided to take my chances. My dog and I have communication issues. He was doing sort of okay at basic training, but he was easily distracted and not at all treats motivated. He jumped, barked, and in general had no manners. He gets over excited for all interactions and anything new. Running with him seemed to make things worse. I thought he just needed to do more dog puzzles and mind and body exercise to meet his instincts. None of this worked! I could not control him. I couldn't even get him to pay attention to me. Online training program also failed. Sure, he learned to do the basics with no distractions But this was not enough. He was reactive and distracted, and no amount of leash yanks got any messages across to him. He just did not understand. I was flustered. My boyfriend and I couldn't hang out without putting him outside. It became way too hot to do that. I had hired a trainer who didn't do much. Just made me buy a useless leash and train with leash yanks. I have poor mobility, and that just did not work for us. When he became bowl and kennel aggressive, I knew it was time for a serious intervention. At the first lesson, I saw an ability to communicate in a way he understands for the first time ever. He didn't lose his enthusiasm or personality! He just has a way to be focused and motivated now! He is not in any pain when used properly. I have a year of group classes which will train me to use the e collar properly. They laid the groundwork, and now it is up to Rios my dog and I to work to make this a last. They returned his items in better condition. He was cleaner. There was no hiding the use of the e collar. Like one review said. They are straightforward and honest as far as I can tell. He was given his medication and food and seemed well taken care of. He will be visiting with daycare and boarding! Updated with more praise! Rios is potty trained! He was using inside pads. Was afraid to poop outside. Not anymore! I have not washed a single potty pad! This morning before his food, he stopped where his collar charges and waited for me to put it on. He made it clear to ME that this is how things work. To me that is him telling me he is happier now that we can communicate. He WANTS his Ecollar because it means he and I are happy and relaxed, knowing we can communicate effectively. Sit Means Sit probably saved Rios from "destruction." The price tag was not easy to swallow, but the results can not be argued with. 6 stars if I could! Rios is now able to join us at busy patio restaurants! It's like I have a "normal" dog again!
Sit Means Sit has positively improved our dogs happiness and freedom. Not only are they able to play and enjoy life but us as dog lovers are able to take our Malinois with us and they behave appropriately. Thanks to the training and follow up by Andrea our dogs have the life they deserve. We will definitely be referring all family and friends!
Sit means Sit has done so much for my daughter and her boy Enzo. Without having Sit means Sit there to help us learn how to control and train Enzo, we would not be able to enjoy him as much as we do. It has been life changing for us and makes us so proud of him everyday. We are so grateful to be apart of the Sit means Sit family. Best place EVER!!!!!
I am so glad I brought Bella for training. She is so much better when we walk, she’s better about barking at my son-in-law and neighbors and she is getting better with my daughter’s dogs. I had 2 trainers who I had practice with and got good help on how to keep training her. I would recommend them to anyone who wants their dogs to get trained.
This training facility strengthened my relationship with my dog. We learned to better communicate with each other. And he Loves it here! He has doggy and human friends here. And so do I. We train together. It can be a challenge but it’s Fun!
My Wife & I have 3 VERY BIG & Extremely Energetic German Shepherds… Needless to say we needed some extra help getting the Shepherds behavior to a controlled level. We ended up doing 2 of them in the “10 Day Boarded Training Program” and our Youngest in the “15 Day” programs!! I can tell you here & now it’s the best money we’ve spent in years! The staff at SMS is 100% dedicated to correcting your fur babies behaviors & attitudes! The ENTIRE staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and they are amazing to the dogs! Our dogs were cared for, groomed, walked, played with, and most importantly were impeccably trained with Love & Discipline! I’d recommend Sit Means Sit to ANYONE! You will NOT find a better “Dog Trainer or Boarding Facility” in New Mexico!! If your puppies are out of control Sit Means Sit is the place to go!!
Sit Means Sit has been a game changer for our dog, Charlie. Not only have they helped us to train him and become proactive in dealing with his energy and behavior, but the staff is so loving and kind towards our crazy pup. Charlie goes to day care frequently where we’re greeted with a friendly smile and then he gets to play with all of his favorite people and doggie pals all day. I cannot say enough good things about this business and the services that they provide.
They lie to owners take all belongings away from pets they use highest level on collars even mini dogs I watched a trainer pick the dog up by leash as it dangled by its neck because it wouldn't listen and jump 4 ft up on pads probably a 10lb dog if that then turn its shock full blast and shock for 3 minutes as it screamed. They stop using collars 2 to 3 days before "training" is up to go home so the burns heal. They abuse them and make them fearful the dogs hide in corners of kennels and owners only see pets happy cause when they see they're owner has returned they are great full you came to their unknowingly rescue. They're fraud and animal abusers. Facts they should be investigated. EXPOSED I saw the small dog incident when I walked in interested in the place and the collar situation I've heard from multiple previous kennel techs you can lie and denie truth but unknown what my eyes saw and heard!
