Usually stop there on the way from Kansas City to Springfield. They have the BEST pork tenderloin sandwiches. The service is great; and, if you don't have room for dessert, you must get a piece of their pie to go for later. We had peanut butter cream pie and it was fabulous! One of the top 10 restaurants on my life long list...and I've eaten from New York to California!

The restaurant was packed full and the hostess dropped everything to get us a table for 16 we waited 5-10 minutes tops. That alone got them a 5 star rating. Ty smiths restaurant for being prepared on such a busy holiday

I’m a longtime food editor, writer and cookbook author with beloved food haunts in NYC; Memphis; Lawrence, Kansas; Big Island, Hawaii; the Oxfords of England and Mississippi; San Francisco; Seattle; Nashville—you get the picture. This place is the bee’s knees. Going on my map. When asked what kind of fat they use for the pie crust, waitress replied, “Lard, butter, suet, whatever good fat we got. Make em fresh ever day.” Yes, please.
Also not to be missed: The woodwork in here is amazing. The country style isn’t necessarily my thing, but it’s worth a looksee just to admire craftsmanship that someone very obviously gives a good gd about. Gorgeous floors, tables, windows...
In other words: Eat here, yo.

While traveling my husband and I stopped in to have lunch and found the food to be beyond good, service great, and just an all-round pleasant experience. We highly recommend this restaurant to everyone!

We had the Fried Chicken Dinner special. Everything, from the homemade dinner rolls to the fried chicken. The whole meal tasted just like my mother used to make. It was WONDERFUL!
