Southern Comfort Cafe

I purchased Turkey wings two times. The first time they were old and cooking fresh sauce. The second time they were still old and cook a sauce that was not so fresh. I also ordered fried chicken and sweet potatoes with mac & cheese that day. The fried chicken was very good and fresh. The sweet potato was out of this world. But the mac & cheese was more like A sauce. was very slimy. Although, I did enjoy the baked goods. My sister is pineapple coconut cake was out of this world. I would suggest that you guys do not serve old food. I understand that It is hard to throw away things like turkey wings if they’re not selling very quickly but this also pushes away your customers and future customers because unfortunately the second visit was when I introduced other people to the food and they were shocked that I would even suggest such old leftover food. This is unfortunate because I used to really like this place! I’m not sure which changed or why they let themselves down but I Might just stick to the bar the next time I come by because the turkey wing thing just told me a lot about what’s going on in the kitchen. My coworkers have chosen to look for another option for their catering services. I am Embarrassed but what’s most important is that it’s a shame that the police would take chances with their success because of laziness or trying to save a dollar

Food and service was great the first visit. The second time, quality and portions mediocre. The third visit, omigoodness, vegetables obviously from a can, shrimp and chicken oily n not flavorful and the mac n cheese was more mac than cheese and the macaroni was overcooked. I will not be returning. There's never any desert in the desert case. When I voiced concerns over my plate, I was asked if there would be anything else. No apology...Nothing. they should visit Amy Ruth's in Harlem to taste real soul food. Such a disappointment. Overpriced too...

The service was ok, the server could have checked on us a little more and didn't get one of the orders right. I ordered the fish and shrimp combo with Mac and cheese and collard greens. The meal was good except for the Mac and cheese was very salty. There was also a live jazz band and they were very good , but it's loud in the dining area where they play. Just some small service and consistency improvements could be done.

Food was tasty n Hospitality was very good. Beautiful cozy n warm atmosphere. Very clean. Celebrated my cousins Brooke n Stevie Baby Shower there......will definitely recommend n come back again. Everyone loved the catfish fritters.....perfect place for lunch or dinner👍

Everytime I am in the NJ/NYC area I visit this restaurant. I found it looking for a liquor store while visiting my God brother in NJ. I think the food is really good and reasonably priced. The service is a little bit slow. (I will not make any additional comments about that). On the train from Manhattan to NJ as I type this review. First stop "Southern Comfort" then my God brothers house.
