Unfortunately, I have to agree with all of these negative reivews. I've been banking with them for over 20 years. And they've been fine, until something comes up and you need help. I've never really needed anything out of the ordinary. Yeah, they're slow and customer services has never been good, but their savings rates were decent. In the past 18 months or so, I've needed customer service help and they have absolutely been the worst! The incompetence and apathy from the reps were and are amazingly horrible. I need to explain the issue to every new rep and they are literally too incompetent to understand. So I ask to escalate the issue so I can talk to second/third tier support. And guess what, it's no better if you can get anyone to actually pick up. I write this as I've been put on hold going on 58 minutes now. I'll spend the rest of the time on hold looking for a new credit union. I'm done.
Literally the worse credit union I've come into contact with. You can't pick up a card in person, they take FOREVER to reimburse your money, they ask a bunch of stupid questions for an account that you already verified 30x! I am so sick of this credit union. The customer service workers are liars, they told me my card was sent out 2 weeks ago, I have yet to receive it, then I was told it would be expedited on Friday & arrive Tuesday or Wednesday, it has not come. I was told the card was JUST sent out on Tuesday. I AM ANGRY! I cannot access my funds because this bank works like its still 1950's! UGH.
Very mixed experience. Office staff are competent, professional, and responsive. I have only good things to say about them. They quickly resolved an issue that multiple exchanges on-line and with telephone support had failed to solve. On the other hand the staff handling on-line and telephone help didn't seem to listen or to know what they were doing. Script reading and buck passing.
This credit union is not what it used to be. The customer service has went down tremendously. You could call in with a time sensitive issue, most of the time they will tell you they’ll have to forward your issue to a “specialists”, and you won’t even receive a call back sometimes. I’ve even spoken with a supervisor that provided terrible customer service. I’m becoming really annoyed and I’m now looking into other credit unions. I would not recommend. If you have a dispute, good luck. If you need a new card, good luck. I followed up to find out why haven’t I received my new bank card, I was told it hadn’t even been mailed out. I found that to be insane, especially as a mother and needing access to my card for everyday life. The workers are always clueless. Need I say more.
I've been with this credit union a very long time and the level of service that I received today was terrible! The virtual assistant phone system is beyond terrible. I've spent well over 1.50 hours on hold and the call dropped only to have to call back and be left on hold again. I know management has to know about the horrible level of service. Financial access is important to customers and the callous manner in which this credit union is being managed has to be reported to an outside agency! My issue was never resolved so my time was wasted!
Marcus Allen was such an amazing help to me right before the holidays. I came in with many challenging tasks and he got them done with no complaints and with great urgency! My experience was incredible and I will now use this King street branch for now on!!! Thank you so much for saving my holiday weekend.
As soon as I am done paying off my credit card with them I am closing all of my accounts. This company has the WORSE customer service of any bank I have ever received. Why are you asking me a million questions to verify me and make it such a nightmare to make a payment on my card. The customer service also sucks in person I literally almost missed my closing because they took forever even though NO OTHER CUSTOMERS were on the building. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!
Worst financial institution I have ever worked with. Unprofessional, poor service, no communication. I was pre-approved and locked in for a loan and then didn’t hear back for weeks. They missed closing, and never did answer the phone. I don’t understand how they still have a license. I am still in shock and bewildered by my interactions with them. I have worked with many banks and lenders - but nothing compares to SDFCU. Simply the worst.
I'm glad to say after having an account for 16 years I've finally closed it! Pros: * Short username due to being a small bank. Cons: * Not compatible / doesn't work other financial services. Setting up an external bank account never worked. Services such as venmo do not work. * Inconsistent security where you can get challenged multiple times with the same challenge despite having just completed the challenge. * Got fined a late fee for a pre paid credit card. * Got fined an inactivity fee of $10 / month despite SDFCU making ample interest of my inactive account. * Very difficult to navigate site. Figuring basic things out such as my account number was very difficult. * Uncompetitive interest rate around 0.002% * It's very difficult to reach a representative. With other banks that I have I can usually get a chat going within 1 minute. SDFCU uses a complex 3rd party email where they always seem to take a full 24 hours to reply. If you call SDFCU on a phone they'll have you hold a while after a bunch of keypad presses. * After you delete your account statements are no longer available for viewing.
SDFCU sent my a letter saying that since I've had direct deposit for 40 years, they are depositing $50 in my account. And, oh by the way, the letter also said that $50 is subject to 1099 tax reporting. Thank you so much! With what's left, I might splurge and run out and buy a loaf of bread. What an insult to a life long customer!
