Strand Bookstore

Great bookstore . I've been going since I was a student at NYU. Great staff. An awesome array of books. If they have a book in stock they even print you a label and have one of the personnel to assist you. There is a really cute fair skinned girl with big glasses and long black hair who is really friendly and puts bookmarks in all the books. She says hi and makes short conversation and makes sure everything is up to snuff. The young African American gentleman downstairs is really helpful with trying to find books really quickly and overall it's a great experience. Be prepared to say excuse me A LOT ! because it's always packed!

Lots of books! We could get lost here for hours. Very interesting arrangement too. We loved the basement area with many used old books that were so interesting. We also liked the tote bags that they were selling. They were the perfect size for storing our book haul.

My favorite book store in the city. One of the best collections of art and architecture books around. I would also recommend taking the elevator to the rare books floor and looking around. They have some really cool stuff up there. Note that the store is a little cramped and pretty much always crowded. Great selections though.

Their book collection and variety is exemplary and I used to come here for all the books I needed for school, as they had them for affordable prices. Their assortment of fridge magnets are pretty cool too. Great store to visit even if it's to browse around.

Amazing selection of used books. I loved the American history section. Unfortunately the prices were a little higher than we felt used books should cost (especially in a slightly used condition) - some were same price or even higher than we have seen for new ones in other stores. We found a few treasures that we couldn't pass by.
