I worked here as a cook for a year and some change. Let me save you some time and recommend you stay away. There is another Sumo Japanese Steakhouse on Clemson road, and in the 30 minutes it would take you to drive to the other, you would most likely still be waiting to even be sat at the Lexington location. And the Clemson road location is waaaaay cleaner
They have a very high turnover rate when it comes to wait staff, and as such the chefs often have to do the job of both waiter and cook. They regularly employ young and inexperienced (including me, I was a junior in high school when I started) staff or basically whoever they can get. I've seen many sketchy people hired and fired from here.
And then there's George , who seems to have no motivation to grow or even sustain his business, and acts accordingly. There is a second owner of the restaurant who is the only "glue" holding the place together, he also owns the Clemson Road location and actually knows how to run a business. Here's the address for the other location. Better food, better trained staff, cleaner restaurant, more menu options. Thank me later.

Fast and friendly. They make the sauces and it is so much better than store bought. Big portions and great tasting.

Visiting from out of town and my experience at this restaurant was HORRIBLE! No other way to explain it. Made reservations for a big group at 830 didn't get seated until after 9. Didn't get any service until almost 10. Worst dining experience ever, highly recommend you to go elsewhere

- the manger George is a horrible person . He doesn't care about his staff or his customers . High turn over rate . I think it would be a better place if he wasn't in charge anymore!

My niece warned us about the service and told us not to go but we did it anyway. Big mistake. The owner waited on us and was being so mean to us. We didn’t do anything wrong but he kept yelling at us. Finally he decided to stop yelling at us and just cook.
