Villa Tronco Italian Restaurant

The place is really well reviewed which led us to choose what we hoped was authentic Italian comfort cuisine. The food is lack luster to say the least. They have this specialty soup recipe handed down through the generations that has a close resemblance in appearance and taste to dishwater. The red sauce on my spaghetti and meatballs had the identical flavor profile of tomato puree straight out of the can. Absolutely no spice/seasoning and very bitter. The meatballs however were quite well made and delicious. Sadly, the well known Italian restaurant national chains (also yuck) blow this place away. Really wanted to like it.

Beautiful place inside an old fire house. Walked here from the office downtown. Special was ready in just a few minutes. It was perfectly cooked. Waitress was very attentive and I was able to get back to work on time. I intend to bring the family down for dinner soon.

I could go on for pages about all of the flaws in the dishes we received and how NOT fresh the ingredients were, but the epitome of my experience was the “rack” of lamb that was the saddest scrap of over-cooked meat in the Columbia area. I was worried when they did not ask what temperature I wanted the lamb cooked to, but i thought there was NO way they would assume anything past medium. Boy was I wrong. The chef blew past well-done and never looked back. I appreciate that they put some effort into the decor, but they left quite a few details to be desired in that aspect as well and the main dining room was packed with no privacy or personal space. On the positive side they had friendly service and generally good plate presentation.

Authentic Italian food. Family recipes that have been passed down from Mother to daughter for generations! Do NOT pass up the opportunity to have a slice of real cheesecake!!

I loved the Palmetto Opera event I went to tonight! Service was great! And I like the intimate atmosphere! Really awesome night out for my husband and I!
