UPDATE: So happy to hear that Terra is finally downsizing and making room for more small independent businesses to rent the space! It would be such a boost to the local community if Terra finally stopped limping along and accepted the fact that the people of Bellingham have voted with their dollars; in a town with so many health conscious folks, it’s crazy that Terra, year after year, doesn’t manage to run a thriving business.
Please, do the mature thing, close Terra for good and rent out the remaining space to other local businesses. It’s time to give someone else a chance! I’m sure your good employees would have no trouble finding employment with quality local businesses that actually care about them.
Also, it seems like many people are confused about Terra vs The Public Market. Just so the public knows, the businesses in the Public Market (the juice bar, the herb store, the Ethiopian and sushi places, etc) are independent businesses that rent the space from the owner of Terra, the organic grocer that takes up the majority of the space at the Public Market. They are separate businesses and deserve to be reviewed as such.
Terra itself continues to struggle; yet there seem to be many who write 5star reviews for them, albeit generally (not always, generally) on forums were you can chose which reviews the public actually sees.
What’s weird is that, even after seeing so many rave reviews, people still don’t shop here. No matter what Terra tries, how it bad mouths and attacks its competition, and how it begs, people simply don’t shop here. Don’t let the full parking lot fool you; most people just use it as free downtown parking. The owner may have a small band of followers who don’t seem to care about how he treats his employees or how he does business, but they aren’t numerous enough to keep this place healthy and thriving. Yet the Co op and Whole Foods do massive amounts of business here. What gives?

What a great place, one establishment with several individual businesses coexisting and helping one another thrive.Truly a testament to cooperative effort and execution. The atmosphere is warm and positive with the desire to assist or inform very apparent. This is a Bellingham must...

*As of March 2018, Terra is consolidating and shrinking its space. Consequently, they are very low on stock and many items are currently unavailable*
Terra is a low-key, health food and groceries shop that often has had products today Co-op doesn't carry. Their products are often at a higher price than other stores, though they will match prices.

Decent selection, difficult prices. I’m glad that we have another independent organic grocer in bham. I do come here but usually only as a last resort just because they are steep.
