The Beach Music Shop

Stopped by for a visit while on vacation in the outer Banks area. They were offering a ukelele jam session on Wednesday nights at 5:30. My daughter and I took our ukes and joined in. We had a great time!! Very nice small business!!

I would put zero stars if I could. Wanted to check the store out on a Saturday, since it says they are suppose to be open 9-6 and there was a sticky note on the door that said closed be back on Monday. That is bad business to just randomly close and then put a sticky note on your door.

Great trip, the owner was a great man. He informed me on the uke that I bought and will be going back in the future.

A few years ago while on our annual family vacation, my wife and I were asked to play acoustically at a pub in the parking lot of the Food Lion in Coralla, the bar above the shops. As always, we had brought our guitars, but intended to play without amplification. To our surprise the owner of this music shop's daughter worked at the pub and had asked her mother to loan us a p.a. for the show and had put the word out. So in addition to our family, the bar was packed. Not only did we get to perform for our east coast family, but we got to perform to many O.B.X. residents who became our friends. All thanks to this wonderful girl and her mother. Our family was amazed and the locals were super receptive. We haven't vacationed there every year since, but every time we have we return to her shop to thank her for her kindness.

This was an odd store. They had about 3 guitars for sale, all at inflated prices, and didn't seem to want to make any deals. Decent for basic accessory needs if you find yourself on OBX, but it's not worth it as a destination in itself.
