I am only giving this place a three star review because of the Property Manager. She was exceptional and always got back to me in a timely manner. If I could give it 2.5 stars, I would. The Lux is a gorgeous building, located in quite the perfect spot for downtown. The downside to them is the maintenance. They don't show up until 4pm and they typically only stay for 2 MAYBE 3 hours. So if something is broken, it won't be fixed until later in the evening. The building has 3 elevators, and in the 2 years I lived there only two worked. Half of that time, only one was operating. The building has 80 units and 3 businesses inside, so around 200 people throughout the day or more were using ONE elevator. The wait time for the elevator varied between 5-15 min. They offer parking in their garage, at an additional cost, or their under ground parking, also at an additional cost. The parking surrounding the building is alright, but you can't park in the alley during business hours, the back of the building doesn't have security cameras, and the parking up front can be challenging. The owner of the building works and lives there, but he is very standoffish from his residents. I never spoke to him in the time I was there, but often ran into him on the elevator. You would think the person who owns the building you live in would want to get to know his residents and be a little nicer when greeted. I don't recommend this place due to these reasons, and these issues kept decreasing the longer I stayed. I don't see them getting things fixed or done, even after multiple complaints from multiple tenants.
These apartments offer great space and open views. I liked the two or more bedroom floor plans. The one bedroom studio is tight with minimal storage. The rooftop lounge was nice and inviting. The way these are built sounds like electricity and water bills are lower so that's handy when factoring in the price.
My husband surprised me with a birthday party here! The event was perfect! He had the space all day to get our friends in to decorate. There was ample room as he invited over 100 guests, though only about 60 showed up, we could have easily and comfortably accommodated over 100. The food was catered by Larkspur and you can't go wrong there! We has chicken and steak skewers, meatballs, hummus, spinach and article dip, pita chips, tortilla chips, fruit, and cheese. There was a fully stocked bar we went the cash bar route. There was a sound system wr hooked into to play music, avoiding the cost of a DJ. The staff was very friendly and helpful making the atmosphere great for our event. You won't go wrong choosing this space for your next event or party as well!
I've lived in a one bedroom apartment at The Lux for over 6 years and love it! I love my view from my apartment, it's one of my favorite parts I look out east. The apartment is spacious with huge windows that let in a ton of light. Issues have been dealt with promptly. The rooftop common room is a great place to watch a football game or hang out. The bike storage space is extremely useful because it means I don't have to find a place to store my bike in my apartment. The wifi is usually pretty good, a little laggy from time to time, but I've been able to stream movies and work from home with only a few issues. And one of the best parts is my electric bills are usually in the $30-35 range, and that's with a washer and dishwasher that are used at least weekly. I don't see myself leaving unless I leave Wichita.
The Lux apartments are truly awesome !!! The rooftop lounge areas are great for entertaining or just enjoying the views & the outdoors. The property is modern & classy. It has a social feel & at the same time provides the privacy & quite everyone seeks from being at home They have the best and largest fitness gym with large screen cable T.V. !!!
I lived at The Lux for 2.5 years. I would give 5 stars if not for a few reservations I prefer not to mention. None of which would stop me from moving right back in if I ever return to Wichita. Great location, very clean, spacious rooms, and useful amenities. This building is the best cost / quality you will find in downtown Wichita.
Honestly, I would give this place a 4.5 star rating. The place has a nice vibe to it. So, a few things to know before deciding on moving in. Pros: Free wifi. Coffee Shop Can even rent out the downstairs Theater mama.films Close to Old towne Cameras & locked elevators Spacious apartments Leasing office is friendly Easy to understand contract, Everything upfront. Pet friendly Community spaces All bills included, except electricity Has a gym. A place to store your bike Clean. Free pancakes every once in a while. Wonderful view of the city. Cons: $500 deposit for a cat. nonrefundable $500 only $250 is refundable NO FREE PARKING Some windows open depending on which side of the building or apartment you get. You can't escape your lease, once you sign & move in. "Optional Microcharges" Garage is $50/$60 $15 "waste free" program Apartments walls can easily be damaged, if you aren't careful. Haven't done it, but can tell from their quality Aside from all the cons, it's a pretty nice place to live. Everyone is friendly and it's walking distance from old towne. I don't regret moving here, just wish they had better parking or at least a parking option that doesn't cost an extra amount to use.
The owner and staff were incredible to work with on a short-term lease when I stayed here as a travel nurse. The facility is great, and the location puts you right near the beautiful Arkansas river and its river walk. Downtown Wichita is doing such a nice job of renovating the downtown into a special place to live. Old town is close by, with lots of activity and great places to eat.
I have lived here for close to 3 years in two different units before moving to OKC recently. During my time at The Lux, I have experienced a staff who truly go above and beyond in making you not only feel at home, but that you're part of a family. Having gone through a difficult time recently due to the pandemic & losing my job for a good while, The Lux staff stepped up & truly helped me, as well as other residents, keep a roof over my head while I was surviving financially. The residents who live here truly became my close neighbors & the friendly faces that I looked forward to seeing every day. We all helped one another out when needed as well. Majority of the residents, like myself, have lived at The Lux for a minimum of 2 years. That speaks volume. The complex is also in a stellar location that makes anywhere downtown within walking distance and a short drive to others. The units are modern & uniquely designed. The rooftop that overlooks the city was always a fav. The Lux is the place to live in Wichita, there is truly no other place like it. I will def miss it.
Great, convenient place to live! I loved all the amenities and simplistic layouts. The rooftops were great for entertaining friends / family. Staff was always exceptionally kind and accommodating. I would highly recommend The Lux to anyone!
