I am impressed with the final result of my hair, however I went in for a cut and color at 1:15pm and it took the student 6.5 hours to just do the color, I was then told that they were closing and she didn’t have time to do the cut. A little disappointing to not have received what was asked. The student did a great job with the color and was obviously very meticulous and took her time not to make errors, which I appreciate to a certain extent but in my mind
6.5 hours for some foils is just too long.

The atmosphere is horrendous. They do not care about their students one bit. A lot of the teachers don't teach, they stand around. When you ask for help they get annoyed. When you ask to learn new things they get irritated and act like they are being asked to move mountains. The few teachers I liked and enjoyed, that helped, are no longer there. It was a complete waste of my time going to this school. I worked my butt off while I was there to keep good grades. I would fight through the day with little sleep because I was also working full time while going to school full time. I would do blow drys on a doll head for 8-10 hours a day because I wouldn’t get clients and couldn’t afford to color or cut my dolls hair regularly if at all. I didn't even get to finish and get my license because after having some medical/mental issues they denied me the ability to go back and finish. At one point, the environment was getting so hard on me and I was having enough issues, to where I wasn’t showing up to school as much as I was supposed to. I get told that it’s my own fault for this environment. “You get out what you put in.” I put in everything I had. Time, money and energy. I had reached out a few times to express what types of issues I had going on and they basically told me to suck it up and deal it, that school needs to be taken care of before everything else. That it was my number one priority now. It was such a struggle finding things to keep me busy when I didn’t have clients. Seeing as I am from a town an hour+ away it was hard to convince friends and family to come in so I relied on walk ins, which I rarely got. I am in so much debt to not have a license, all so they can still get their money at the end of the day. I was so ecstatic to go here but that is a decision I fully regret and wish I could change. If I would have known more about this school I never would have set foot in it!

I went in for a French gel. Stephany was my girl. Cute , funny, and very personable.
Best gel I've ever had !
Her supperviser checked on her a couple of times but she needed no help.
I will be going to Stephany from now on.

From the moment you walk in the door you pick up on the awesome vibe that Paul Mitchell the School Reno resonates. After spending time in each of the areas cosmetology schools, PMTSR is above and beyond first class. Talk about a clean environment. Its modern, up to date , and full of life. They added a nail program this year and its really starting to take off. The students in the nail tech program are learning the ins and outs of gel nails, acrylics, and of course every type of nail art you can imagine. If you're looking for an amazing pedicure... look no further. I received one of the best pedis of my life here. What's not to love? I highly recommend checking out PAUL MITCHELL THE SCHOOL RENO if you're looking for a great spot to get your nails done or even if you're looking to start your career!

I love supporting up and coming cosmetologists and I would love to rate Paul Mitchell higher but it's been very hit or miss for me. Once you find a good student stick with them!
It's never been possible for me to ask for a student who may be more skilled in a particular area such as colors or short hair styles. Occasionally the floor instructors seem to not want to interact with some students or perhaps they are too busy? It can take a long time for the student to get anything approved if the instructors are not readily available.
It can be loud and busy so don't expect a relaxing experience. Though remember this is a school so also don't expect a spa. Call ahead as they may not have time for any walk-ins.
Do go if you need an inexpensive hair cut or color. With prices ranging from $5 for a wash and blow dry to ~$35 for a cut and color, it is an amazingly cost effective way to get a hair cut.
Don't go if you are looking for a spa experience or salon quality.
