The Playwright Irish Pub

Could be a bit friendlier! Irish pubs are known for their friendliness and hospitality. However I didn't get that vibe here. That said Guinness was decent and service ok, but someone should tell at least one of the bartenders to engage her patrons just a little bit more. One last point - bringing ones own wine into a pub? What could they have been thinking?

I wouldn't have reviewed this place 1 star had it not been for a issue with the bill/staff. The venue itself is probably the best I found in Miami beach for watching sport and there is free pool too. However, they must be the only bar in the world where 2-4-1 doesn't mean buy two for the price of 1. During happy hour I ordered two beers for me and my friend as the menu said 2-4-1 on all beers. When the bill came we had been charged the price of two beers instead of one. When I politely told the server of the issue she responded and said that it wasn't actually 2-4-1 and gave me some spiel about why she had charged me full price. When I said that that isn't how 2-4-1 works she got quite aggressive. There was another customer also having the same issue as me and she was rude to us and made out that we were stupid. They eventually corrected the bill but the attitude of the server and the fact they were making up rules meant we didn't go back to watch the sport the next day, which was a shame as it was a good place to watch sport.

Absolutely terrible. Terrible service. No power outlet to use. Brought in our own wine and then kicked us out. Who treats people that way??? To make matters worse! They stole our wine AND THEN threw us out!! Never coming back :)

This wonderful amazing pub... This one of the best places... To eat and have drinks its a highly respectful places to go out on the town why in Miami beach Florida what really made me fall in love with the staff is when i seen some adults come in with 3 underage teen's they order food and alcohol for everyone..the staff had a smile on there face and give them water and never returned... And the people left... Lol i will always go there each year.

Had good times here. Just stopped in for a few drinks at the bar, and played pool once. I recall watching some type of performance on the big screen showing sports, and it was fun to watch. Enjoyed the mix of classic alternative rock being played, and not too loud either, so people could have a chance to catch up and chat. The bartender(s?) weren't particularly friendly, but perhaps he/they were just busy. I think it's a shame what the place has become as I've read some negative comments on here. Honestly, I personally am going to give it another shot.
