The Sands Restaurant

Breakfast was incredible! Full of flavor and plenty of it. The portions are HUGE! Stayed the night at the inn and enjoyed a fabulous breakfast this morning. Staff is friendly and eager to please.

Absolutely loved it! Delicious. I had chili reano and chicken enchiladas served with rice and beans. Portion was huge. Go hungry and before 9 pm. A exceptional yet simple salad bar with authentic mexican soups. Shrimp plate was LARGE! Everything was freash. If you're looking for (real) mexican food then this is a hidden gem-enjoy! Service was friendly and helpful. Going back before I leave Raton and thinking about staying at the hotel next time so I can enjoy there breakfast.

This place is showing up as the Sands on Google Maps, but is now called Casa Lemus Inn Lobby and Restaurant. I’m confounded by the low reviews of this place (maybe leftover from the Sands?), especially after eating at Alfonso’s last year. My husband and I got the fajitas to go, and they were pretty good! Could have used a bit more seasoning on the meat, beans, and rice, but it was tasty. Considering your choices here are Sonic, Alfonso’s, and Arby’s, this has to be the best spot in town. Side note - I’m confused by any place that serves too broad a spectrum of cuisines (like this place) - Mexican, Chicken Fried Steak, and... Italian? At most two of these can be executed well.
