Beautiful park! Lots of bison and wild horses. The prairie dogs are my favorite, so cute! Definitely do a tick check when you are done in the park though.

One of our favorite places for a weekend getaway!! It's so quiet and the view is just amazing. You could see wild animals sporadically, like deer, elk, buffaloes and prairie dogs, as well as owls in the evening.
The road to the petrified forests was quite confusing as it mixed with private lands. But it's worth the effort to get there.
We went there early spring but we got burned just from the sunlight one afternoon at the petrified forests. Get ready and put on sunscreen before you head out. It might be deceiving and make you feel very cool as it's very windy up there, but the sunlight is really strong.
Very nice hiking trails with great views. Personally I prefer this badlands over the ones in South Dakota.

Great experience! The landscape is completely fascinating; the colors of the soil from red to blue gray. And the wildlife... bison (two separate herds on our visit) white tailed deer, coyotes and prairie dogs. Worth the trip.

In my personal opinion, if you have already visited grand canyon or Badlands NP, this would not give you a wow feeling. You can see thousands of prairie dogs that's it. It was 92F when we visited there so we couldn't really enjoy even the short trails. Was burning hot that day

One of the most amazing national parks we have and probably the most underrated. Amazing opportunities to see bison, wild horses, prairie dogs, and lots of history.
