Delicious! When you can't eat gluten it kinda feels like menus are tricky to navigate, and even if they have a gluten free selection, you never know if there's contamination....but not here. Everything on the menu is gluten free and delicious. Today was my first time in and I loved it. I had the Se Asian Fried Chicken with asparagus and curry. The chicken was nice and crispy on the outside and was tender on the inside. My friend ordered the Cobb Salad that was equally delicious. We also tried the homemade sodas which were great and not too sweet. And I ordered a Thai Coconut yellow curry rice bowl to go for my husband who consumed half of it like he'd never eaten before and said it was amazing and he was able to save half for another meal! The portions are great, the flavors are spot on, and the service was good. Thank you for making great gluten free delicious food, I will be back!
The journey to a 5 star rating from me is not based on one experience. The first experience, about two months prior, was not good. The food was either flavorless or just plain inedible. We picked at our food and no one asked why. At time to pay, I dished out almost $50 for a meal that was carried away without comment on why the plates were full. We left, got in the car, and sat there for a moment stunned at how bad the food was. We drove away still talking about it and I decided to turn around and go back. On return, I asked to speak with the manager I don’t even have THAT haircut, and spoke with her outside as to be private. I told her all of our concerns. She was very concerned and apologetic. Surprisingly she refunded the entire meal, except for the tip, which I insisted remain since the server still worked. She took it a step further and gave us a 50% off gift certificate and invited us to please come back and give them another chance. After two months, we did. And it was fantastic. The ingredients were fresh, the sauces were full of flavor, the drinks refreshing. It was a complete 180 from the first experience. I had the Kale-Tahini salad with tempeh, which had the perfect amount of sauce that tasted like a real Caesar dressing. The fried olives where a delightful and surprising addition that added a lot of dimension, and the kale was crisp and crunchy. The Farmhouse salad was packed with a rainbow of fresh and delicious veggies and a tasty lemon dressing. I’ll definitely be back. The manager handled our first experience with grace and perfect customer service, corrected the situation, invited us back with a promise of a better experience and half off, and delivered. This is how you run an establishment.
Not very good food. The flavor was okay on my dish for about 3 bites. After that I wanted to throw it out. The meat was chewy, the vegetables were soggy. My friend ordered a dish with broccoli that smelled like rotten cabbage and brocolli farts, and it was slimy. She threw it out and ordered something else from another restaurant. Granted this was a food delivery service bit the food just seemed old and leftover.
A great addition to the NE Fremont restaurant scene! Thrive is a great combination of healthy fare with tasty, filling portions. The price point is also solid given what you're getting. I love the pork shoulder and we've also hired Thrive to cater an event - which is their specialty. They are beyond professional and I try to get in there at least once a month to see what specials they have. If you go for lunch, make sure to get there at 11:45 a.m. Otherwise you could be waiting a while since it's a very popular noon crowd for the business people on Fremont.
Met some gluten-free friends at Thrive for dinner. Frankly, I wasn't expecting much, but I was very pleasantly surprised. Really good food! I had the Kashmir bowl. The flavor was complex -- savory, sweet, salty, earthy, and slightly spicy -- and very good. It included both kale and mango chutney. Who would have thought?? The thoughtful waiter let me brew black tea at the table so that it wouldn't be bitter. We'll definitely go back.
Heard about Thrive through family and decided to eat there one night...all I can say is, we will DEFINITELY be going back. The bowls were amazing, and flavorful. You can't go wrong with adding a protein chicken, hanger steak, crispy pork belly. Staff was friendly, and the prices were fair for the amount of food we got. Thanks!
Thrive was already, easily, one of our favorite food trucks. We really like the variety of flavors available. I love the Mexican bowl with hanger steak, while my wife's favorite is the Argentinian with pork belly. Erika and team had one of the food trucks at our wedding. Our guests raved about the great food and service! We were so glad to have them be part of our big day.
We had Thrive Sauce and Bowls cater our wedding. They brought their food truck and provided not only wonderful food and service, but also all utinsels, signage, drinks, and bartenders for our event. Their food is local and the flavor is fantastic. They provided 5 different bowl options and 5 different protein options, which gave our guests a lot of choice of what to eat. People told me multiple times that day how good their food was and they had never been to a wedding with catering like what Thrive did for us. It was great working with Erika, and while it sometimes took a couple of days for her to respond to email/ calls because she is the owner and chef, when we did talk, she was thorough and helped reassure me about all the details and made sure the catering part of our wedding ran smoothly. Thank you Thrive for providing fresh and excellent for for our wedding!
The food was amazing, the staff were extremely nice, great conversations. I would definitely go here on a weekly basis if I lived in portland. The Combination of flavors the vegetables were fresh crisp. The best was the lemon dressing/sauce. Thank you for having a restaurant that is so delicious, gluten free . Please keep up the great work and will spread the word.
Good vegetarian food with options to meatify your food if you want!
