Food was great. Service was great. Chef was great. Had an excellent meal and entertainment with the teppanyaki at Tokio Table. Husband made reservations for 5pm Saturday, for the hibachi experience. Meals come with soup, salad, and rice. The waitress, after hearing hubby has a wheat specific allergy, went above and beyond. She gave him soup without the fried onions, then salad dressing on the side, it was incredibly sweet and appreciated. Our chef/entertainment was absolutely wonderful. We had the pleasure of sitting with another family with small children and to see their faces just light up was great. They do have children hibachi plates. He even posed for a photo. Thank you for making my 13 year old nephews first teppanyaki experience great. Dietary restrictions: Absolutely amazing. Husband is wheat allergic and the extra care was unexpected and appreciated. Kid-friendliness: Absolutely kid friendly. Had a few under 5 at our table and my nephew is 13 and enjoyed the whole experience.
We had bond as our chef and he was amazing, good with our kid and made our 13 year anniversary special and memorable. We were recommended by our colleague and she is totally going to get a fist bump for the awesome recommendation. Food was perfect and I am super picky, perfection achieved. Wife’s love potion was absolutely amazing. I got scallops which are seriously some of the best I had anywhere in the world.
This place was great! Our chef was very skilled and put on a great show. We mainly got steak which was an excellent choice, and the veggies and miso that come with the entreés were on point. Very happy with the experience and would definitely return.Food: 5/5
We were looking for a place to eat on a very cold winter night. I'm so happy we tried this place. It was good and watching the food cook in front of you was a great show. Service was excellent. You can make reservations.Food: 4/5
Jessica was AMAZING! I’ve never had a server go so above and beyond for. I have a gluten allergy and she made me my own sushi/hibatchi/soup and salad and it all tasted amazing. Will definitely be back. Thank you again JessicaFood: 5/5
The food is so good here it makes me cry. We ordered more drinks with our hearts in the sky. A fabulous hibachi was had by all. Even so for our good friend Paul. Try the chopped steak or the salmon. It’s tasty and lovely as glorious Heaven. Vegetarian options: Plenty of vegetarian options. You can add non-vegetarian options to the vegetarian options if you so prefer. Accommodating the many.
I had a special engagement last night in the waitress was lovely. We went there Friday night. We just discovered it and now we’re going to be regulars. She went above and beyond for us girls and our one guy we allow the group so thank you very much for making it special for us, StephFood: 5/5
This is a steakhouse first, but they offer sushi as well so we thought why not. Also, get there early or make a reservation because space is premium. Be patient when it gets busy and the overall experience will be something to remember. Service FoodAtmosphere Mahalo Tokio Table-Japanese Steakhouse!
Went there today for a friend’s birthday and while we had to wait a bit for our food it was worth it. The staff were friendly and professional. The cook was amazing and so kind. It seems as if they need more staff there to help out but overall they were completely hospitable and we were met with smiles. Dietary restrictions: We had a person allergic to shrimp, a gluten and dairy free person, and a person who didn’t like mushrooms. All of those restrictions were honored by the cook.
I have been coming to Tokio Table for years now. I’ve brought my dad, my best friends, my boyfriend, and I frequently go solo. A few things: 1. the owner has been there every single time I’ve been in. He is warm and welcoming and clearly cares about his restaurant. Very seldom do you see owners working the floor when in a restaurant. 2. Their sushi used to be on the menu daily, but during the pandemic they had to revise their menu and I believe it to be a weekend menu item only now. This may come across as an inconvenience to some, however it is a smart decision made my the owner. I’ll say it with my full chest: Tokio Table has the best sushi in Portland. The quality of fish is is unmatched. If the quality of their product goes down due to business or supply chain shortages, rather than serving sub par items, the owner chooses to nix it all together rather than serving a product that isn’t up to their standard. Many restaurants are facing these same challenges and choose to serve lower quality items; Tokio Table does not. If you’re there when they’re serving sushi- GET IT. 3. The service is incredible. Again, I’ve been coming for years. I’ve never had a server or chef who didn’t go above and beyond for me picky eater. 4. Order their drinks. The house cocktails and wine selection are phenomenal. Japanese beer is also on the menu. Those 4 items are just a bonus in addition to the great food and atmosphere. Portions are large, menu items are priced appropriately, and the overall vibe is unmatched. They cook steaks perfectly every time. I’ve even made friends while dining with others at the teppan tables! I’ve ever seen anyone leave looking unhappy. I love this place. You will too. You should try coming in if you’re on the fence. It’s worth it. Vegetarian options: Many options on the menu. Servers are knowledgeable about their menu and can offer a great selection if you should inquire. Dietary restrictions: They have keto options, GF options, veterinarian and vegan options. They often accommodate picky eaters like myself. Parking: They have a whole parking lot in the front of the restaurant in addition to street parking. Kid-friendliness: Kids love it!!! They are charismatic while cooking in front of you and do cool tricks which keep kids engaged. Every single time I’ve been in, young children have been in and their eyes are glued to the chef. Wheelchair accessibility: Tables are placed far apart, hallways are wide and it is up to ADA standards.
