Great experience! First time in this hospital. Great customer service! Shout out to Nurse Jillian! She is the best! -making sure her patients are well taken cared of. Doctors and other nurses practiced caring and compassion. I observed the friendliness of the hospital staff I have met.
I have lived 61 years, worked in the med field 18 of those, and if I hadn't checked myself out I believe I would have suffered serious health consequences. Compassion is not high on their list, I guess. I felt invisible to these people. Was told untruths. I am still sort of in shock. I went in with internal bleeding. No one would listen, no one took responsibility. I live a clean life so this wasn't caused by me demanding drugs. The anesthesiologist didn't read my chart beforehand. She was smug when she came back to me, never apologizing. The P.A. told me he had 40 other patients to attend to. This sounds like a nightmare because it was. Mr. B. Chambers is in charge of this hospital and also Good Samaritan hospital. He is the one who should give me answers. I'm sure I'm about as important to him as his country club dues. Shame on him. God help us all.
I was admitted to Union Memorial and had a great experience. The Doctors are very good and knowledgeable .They made time to explain my situation and fielded all my questions and explained it where i could understand it and any options that we could use. The nurses and technicians on the 4th floor are top notch!! The care and bedside manner from them was total professionalism. That i have never received in my life.My hat goes off to them! The team on the 4th floor is beyond reproach. They made my stay a lot easier to endure. I hope the hospital realizes what a fantastic team they have there . I would recommend Union Memorial to anyone who wants a professional and caring stay.Again THANK YOU. TO TEAM OF PROFESSIONALS ON THE 4TH FLOOR!!!! And the Doctor's who attended to me i salute you for taking care of me with the GREATEST MEDICAL ATTENTION!
Now, while I do not blame this hospital for my fathers death, I don’t acknowledge them for taking the initiative in trying either. I can be wrong, God see’s it all not me. I can only speak on behalf of my experience at this place an what areas I feel they lack in. Empathy is number 1. My father was admitted to this hospital via the ambulance. An I wasn’t allowed back with him in his room due to “Covid-19” I did call him twice. They put me in a family room for all of 45minutes up to an hour an I literally walked out to look for his room. Behold, I walked into his room where he was already laying lifeless. The nurses were so not caring or compassionate at all. I still wonder when they were going to update me on his passing…… Or were they just thinking that I would leave? I’m walking up on 1 year since my dad passed away at the care of this place. 12/11/2021
My dad had back surgery and All staffing was awesome very nice and polite. If anything that the hospital could improve on is the cafeteria very little food to choose from. Didn’t have coffee creamer to use other than skim and Half and half. Other then that hospital was nice.
My father is currently a patient and the care he is getting on the unit disgusts me. I worry more about his health now then I did before he went in. The charge nurse was rude, the person that answered the phone on the unit was rude. The nurse is nice, but does not seem to know what is best for my father. If it were not for the fact that his regular doctor wants him to have a procedure, I would pull him from there ASAP. Addendum - he did have a great nurse and NA for the last days of his stay. I wouldn't want to bunch them in with the other ridiculousness.
Thee worst hospital in MD is right here. Not only are they incompetent but they stole money from me while i was in surgery. Just ghetto!! I was supposed to get my meds at a certain time and they never bring it on time then the nurse told me i had to ask for it. It takes 30 minutes to a hour after i request help for a nurse to get to me. The staff is lazy and have poor bedside manners. Please do not come here , you will be disappointed . By the way i work at a hospital and this is a disgrace.
Extremely inefficient. No one ever picks up the phone. If you call them about anything, you end up in a never-ending loop of recorded messages. I asked them to send my medical records to my insurance company to help with an appeal, but they never did it. I have wasted countless hours trying to reach a customer service agent but have only succeeded on one occasion in the past four months. This is unacceptable. Would not recommend.
My sister had a massive stroke many years ago and is confined to a nursing home. A few months ago, her blood pressure dropped and her blood sugar rosé significantly. The nursing home sent her to Medstar- Union Memorial. The entire time she was there, the doctors were constantly trying to get us allow them to just let her die. Every day they would update us and tell us about any tests or treatment available but then suggest we let her die. Her levels went back to normal and she was released back to the nursing home. I thought hospitals were about caring, not this one.
I will never come here again. Imo it feels like they just take a guessing game on what’s wrong with you. The staff should work on their communication with each other and also work on making sure the patients feel comfortable and safe. This hospital always makes me distrust the medical field as a whole.
