Verona Sports Center

The only place to buy sporting goods. My family and I have been shopping there for almost 40 years, wouldn't think of going anywhere else.

My son came home visibly upset today after an experience he had at this store. He had gone at the beginning of last week to drop off some garments to be heat pressed, his first ever experience there. He was greeted by an older salesperson who immediately had an attitude, arguing semantics with him over the number of articles of clothing. The man kept asking how many shirts, when he meant articles of clothing, and was becoming hostile to my son, who was taking him literally. Finally, someone from the back of the store yelled out that the man meant how many items of clothing, not shirts, but at this point, the salesman was downright ornery and mean for the rest of the transaction. Once the order was placed, my son told them he needed the merchandise by Thursday of last week and was told he'd get a call when the clothing was ready for pickup. It was yesterday evening at close of business for them when they finally called. He went to pick up the merchandise this evening and again encountered the older salesperson. His demeanor was no better and this time he argued that the order had been waiting for my son at the store since last Thursday, and he demanded to know didn't we come in to get it before now. When my son explained that the store had promised to call him when it was done and hadn't done so until yesterday, the man said that he had called my son repeatedly and it was his fault it was never picked up. My son showed him his phone so he could see there were no phone calls or messages from VSC, but that didn't phase the old man. He continued to berate him. My son took the merchandise, and as he turned to leave he asked the salesman if VSC believed in the old adage, "the customer is always right." The older man smiled sarcastically and said "yes." I guess in this case, it wasn't true. Was it because he was a young person, he just didn't like his face, or was he having a bad day both times? If this is the face that VSC puts on for its customers, they must either not need the business or think they are the only show in town because they are definitely scaring customers away. They've definitely lost my future business and I will make sure everyone I know is aware of our experience there.

A great place for quick orders of athletic equipment.

Very nice small business. Does not have everything but is good for quick stops.
