W is my favorite Marriott brand, modern and premium. Nice location close to Chinatown and many many eating and drinking options within walking distance. Staff were great and very friendly, room was not ready when we checked in which we expected. We went out and left our luggage there. They sent it to the room directly W Lounge is a great place to hang out and have a couple of drinks, we ate some appetizers and it was all good. Once again very friendly wait staff. Lounge is a nice cozy place, we really liked it. Rooms are nice sized for downtown Boston. Ours was well appointed. My only complaint is their Latte, very poor excuse of a latte at the restaurant for breakfast. They need a good machine and some good coffee. Even lower end hotels serve better coffee.
I stayed at the W Boston last night for New Years Eve. I had an excellent stay. The front desk staff, Cory, Megan, and most notably Chovi, were super kind and welcoming and made the check in process a breeze. The room was stunning and had an excellent selection of snacks, drinks, and super high quality soaps, shampoos, and moisturizer. Additionally, the room came stocked with some beautifully comfortable robes and fresh towels. My one critique of my stay was when we got to the room, the room smelled like sulfur gas. I called the front desk and they responded immediately and fixed the problem. I believe it was coming from the toilet which had issues twice. Both times maintenance responded quickly and fixed the problem, at least temporarily. I was impressed with their professionalism and response time, but I would have preferred to not have the issues in the first place. Overall, I am highly satisfied with the W Boston's quality of the rooms, the staff's level of service and professionalism, and the sense of urgency to address the concerns of their guests. I highly recommend staying at the W Boston.
Overall I wouldn’t stay here again. It didn’t feel like a W level hotel, much more like an Aloft or average Marriott which is fine but annoying when you intentionally book a luxury level brand. The lobby was stark, empty and felt cold. I found it odd that more often than not there wasn’t anyone at the front desk. The valet was overall fine but I was disappointed they just watched us struggle with our luggage getting out of the car when we arrived instead of helping. As others mention, noise is definitely an issue. We could hear everything in the rooms around us and there was a dog that barked nonstop. Housekeeping was also knocking on our door pretty early despite having time before check out and the do not disturb sign on the door. We were going to get a drink from the minibar but decided against it as there were empty and half empty bottles in it that felt like someone might have tampered with them and housekeeping never noticed or took care of it. The hotel also didn’t have the signature W smell. Overall, minus the mini bar it’s a clean room to sleep in and is fine but it doesn’t compare to other Ws I’ve stayed at.
Outstanding level of service. Front door/valet staff provide exceptional customer service and held the door open nearly every time we went in or out of the hotel. We received recommendations from the front desk on places to visit and were not disappointed. Notified them it was a birthday trip and they sent up a card and box of chocolates. Very satisfied with cleanliness of the rooms and overall very satisfied with all aspects of our stay here. Rooms: Nicely decorated with fully stocked mini bar Walkability: Great location, close to historic places Food & drinks: Cool lounge in the lobby with good music
Very convenient location and good service. Great gym and room. The only thing I would say the pillows are way too soft, but it’s just my preference.Rooms: 5/5
I was a bit disappointed with this W hotel. The room was OK, big enough and had a bathtub. What was disappointing was the level of noise at night. Unfortunately at New Year's night we had a couple verbally fighting nearby, and could hear all cursing and screaming. The breakfast was not great as well, with no buffet, limited menu choices and IMHO overpriced. However the coctails and snacks at the bar were all good.
After a great trip around Maine family of 4, our last night was in Boston and we stayed at the W. I stay at Marriott for business, so I am most familiar with their hotels. This was the most disappointing stay I have ever had at a Marriott. Upon entering with my family, there was a huge crowd of people blocking the entryway that apparently were there for happy hour. Not recommending this place for a family to stay! We went to check in and the music was so loud, I was literally screaming at the person behind the desk. We normally get two rooms since there are 4 of us, but we decided on the last night to share a room and have two queen beds. We enter the room and the fragrance was so overwhelming, it was nauseating. I stay at these hotels all of the time and normally love the clean fragrance. This, however, was like they thought overdosing the room would be a good idea. I tried to get used to it, but eventually requested a new room. I was told I should have asked for a room with no fragrance. I was appalled and reminded them that they don't use so much in a room. They eventually gave us 'the only room left' which had one bed. With four of us, they said they would give us a fold out queen bed...but it was a twin. My teenage son, who is 6', had to sleep on a chaise while my other son also 6' used the twin fold up bed. Mind you the room is tiny so we were stepping on each other. No one had a good night's sleep. We had an early flight, so we had to get our rental car. I checked out and my husband went to find the valet. He was no where. Finally, he arrived, said his walkie was not working. Thank goodness we went down there early because it took him over 25 minutes to get our car! We were the only ones there! They said they would comp the valet cost. Absolutely worst Marriott experience I have ever had. Room rating is a 2 because the bathroom and overall room was clean and nice but we didn't get the beds we were promised. Service was awful with the way the front desk spoke to me to the slow valet service. Location was decent as it is by so many nice areas like the Commons. However, with so many other choices, go somewhere else.
The rooms definitely have a premium feel with interesting finishes and a nicely stocked range of in room drinks and snacks. I don’t like destination fees but it was reasonable and I was having a drink anyway so it was a wash. Breakfast benefit as a Platinum of $30 was fine - staff were great but it’s a fairly pedestrian menu for this caliber of hotel. I used the $200 Amex credit and that made it a good value stay considering this is Boston but even the main rate was fine again taking into account this is Boston
Let me say that the W's concierge, Daniella Torres, is the absolutely best! She is warm and personable, but more importantly she is preceptive. After a brief conversation she was able to jam pack our two day stint with the most amazing things to do. And being the adventurous lasses that we are, we tried to do EVERYTHING. Daniella gave us two list of personalized recommendations and people literally took pics of our top tier list. Our checklist was approved by bartenders and clients all over Boston. The staff at the W was also wonderful starting with the doorman. We were told he lives on Propel, which he assured us is not an energy drink, though based on his presence I'm not so sure. Despite the breezy entrance, his personality, energy, and smile will immediately warm you up. The front desk crew were witty and warm as well, you can't ask for better. There was a party that night with a DJ and beautiful crowd, but our earlier shenanigans overtook plus Daniella booked an early brunch at the always booked Contessa. Which typical is difficult to get a reservation! Daniella Torres is the most competent and relevant concierge that I have ever encountered, well done Daniella
All I wanted was a quiet night of sleep so a sought out a more expensive hotel with good customer service. I called the day before and requested a quiet room on a high floor. I was assured I was going to get a quiet room. When I went to check in, I waited extra long for a quiet room to be ready. The concierge assured me again it was quiet. When I came back to the room after the dinner i realized it was directly across from a night club and incredibly loud. I feel like the people at this hotel were messing with me giving me the loudest room the hotel. Incredibly upset and disappointed the Ws service. Last time I spend my money with them
