Wee Pub Beach

This was a very nice restaurant/bar with a large drink selection. Service was great, even though we were there with a large party and we got our food in a timely manner. I highly recommend trying the Wee Pub if you are in the area.

Pros and cons to this place. The lack of vegetarian items in general on the island is surprising given it’s a tourist destination. However, Wee Pub had a vegetarian menu- though there is no way to know this. Would be helpful to have a note on the menu that there are separate GF and veg menus. The options on the veg menu were interesting and varied, but most of the dishes were not high in protein. Two of the four sandwich options were “seasonal” only (broccoli), and the waitress had to ask the kitchen if they had any. That being said, the broccoli po-boy was AMAZING. It was inventive and interesting, and I could have eaten another. I wished it had come with a higher protein side or something, as the amount of protein in broccoli isn’t enough for a full meal, IMO. Overall, 5 for flavor and inventiveness, but a star off for limited high-protein options.

Lively place. Have music on Thursdays. Fish plates are pretty good as is the salads and cheese steaks. You can get in and out if you choose to or hang around.

Decent pub food - about what you'd expect. Sheppard's pie was good, but the gravy (which came in a side dish) was disconcertingly congealed despite its warmth. Nice beer selection.

OK, I get it. It was slow and during Happy Hour, but cold food is never a good thing. 80 degree potato soup? Really! And then to have the audacity not to take it off the bill without having to ask....... One cold mouthful of potato soup is not worth $5.99. You want a beer go, but otherwise I'd keep looking. Can't comment on the rest of the menu because I was too disgusted over the cold steam well heated soup.
