I am one month away from getting partial dentures started a year ago. This office has messed up more times than I can count and they saved teeth they probably shouldn't of saved. After making numerous appointments for scaling the hygienist doesn't even bother to show up and they don't bother to call so after taking off work early I get there and no hygienist. Now the few teeth I have left they want to charge full price for scaling and they should've done this before they even started the denture. I am on my second set permanent dentures and they're still crooked and Dr. Yuan absolutely does not listen to a single thing you say. He comes in and he does not greet you and sit down says open your mouth and they just reach in and grab your teeth out. This makes me crazy to have anyone come at my face like this and I repeatedly asked them not to do that. They discuss my treatment behind my back while I'm sitting right there instead of to me. They did not let me know that I had to get a third set of impressions because they messed up twice before until I was actually in the dentist chair thinking I was going just to get a temporary fitting. By this time I was so angry while they were doing it that I barely got through without throwing up from gagging. Then the assistant decided to but in when I was talking to the office manager in the front and talking to me like I was a two year-old saying well we're all done now. They should've been done the first time and definitely by the second time. I am now going to go to another dentist to get restarted on dentures that look decent and fit correctly. I would not recommend this office for anything besides a check up or extractions . This is a rudest group I've ever dealt with and I am 61 years old. If you decide to go there after reading this good luck. Also, make sure you know what you want done because every time you go in they're going to ask you what you're there for because obviously no one can write on paper what is going on.
No, no, no, no, no. Do not go here. We had an older dentist and she was so aggressive. My husband who already had bad anxiety with the dentist was so traumatized with this place. Husband had tooth pain and they wanted him to spend 3 hours in a chair focusing on other teeth when he just need a consult for wisdom teeth removal. We now go to Ankeny Dental Associates on 18th and they are so kind in helping us through our anxiety and make us so comfortable.
My mother broke a front tooth, and her dentist couldn't see her for a week and a half. I called Ankeny Aspen Dental at 730 pm and was given an appointmet at 1pm the day with the dentist, Dr Yuan, I requested. He not only put a temporary cap on her front tooth, but was very thorough in presenting a follow on plan. I highly recommend him and will be moving to him for my care. Every time I come here for a cleaning they tell me that I need a deep cleaning and a round of antibiotics. I asked the hygienist if I could get just a regular cleaning because I seriously don't think my teeth need a deep cleaning and just because she said 1 or 2 pockets measured at 5 doesn't mean I need a whole round of antibiotics. She told me no that I would need to get the deep cleaning which my current insurance doesn't cover. I sent my SO here for a cleaning and he was told the same thing, needs a deep cleaning and periodontal disease treatment. I called another dentist in ankeny for him to get a second opinion with. And they agreed that they would do just a second opinion since they weren't accepting new clients at the time; the new dentist saw him, said he didn't need the deep cleaning, and actually just went ahead and did his normal cleaning so it could be covered by insurance. They also informed him that he has a cavity which aspen never mentioned. I have completely lost faith in this branch now and will be switching insurance providers so I can see someone other than Aspen now.
Very nice staff, dentist, and hygienists, which is the only reason why they at least received a star from me. But unfortunately I cannot recommend to go here. I booked the visit online because they were in network for my dental insurance. The online booking made it sound like it would be for the annual dentist checkup and regular hygienist cleaning. I showed up for the appointment, got x-rays, and met with a dentist. They sent me back out to the lobby and told me to wait for the hygienist. After 10 minutes of waiting, the staff told me I was only actually booked for a dentist checkup that day and not for the hygienist portion. They scheduled me with their hygienist during an opening they had the next day. I was glad I had two days off in a row otherwise I wouldn't have been able to make that next portion. I came back the next day and the hygienist visit was "only the hygienist evaluation" for if I needed a deep clean or just the regular clean. The hygienist "found" two pockets of deeper gap between two of my back molars, everything else "looked great". Any deep pockets #5 or above then they recommend the deep clean with powder antibiotics to "get rid of the infection in those pockets." They quoted over $1300 even with dental insurance for this full deep clean. When I asked if they could just perform the regular cleaning they said "unfortunately we cannot because they hygienist are recommending the deep clean and we cannot do less than what is recommended by the hygienist". So overall, I had x-rays that showed no major issues, had the dentist tell me that I don't have any major issues or cavities at this time, and the hygienist tell me I am generally doing great except for these two pockets that they found. No actual cleaning though. So now that they won't perform the general cleaning, I cant go somewhere else to get a cleaning done because they have already used my dental benefits through insurance for the year... I have traveled a lot and been to many different dentists in the past, but I've never experienced anything like this. Go somewhere else that won't make your dental visit feel like a scam and someplace that will actually clean your teeth...
Dr was nice, did have a lot of sitting around doing nothing time, but assistants were very forthcoming saying there would be delays even as first or second appt of the day. The work was professional when it did happen, and was quick. However, Front desk was extremely misleading with payment plans and would not authorize work on my emergency until I signed something. I never received paperwork for what I signed after requesting, no email no printout. They misrepresented what payment plans had what options and would not allow any recourse. They took over a month to fix and crown a tooth, with a nine-day delayed appt. They will call you after the office is closed, disallowing callbacks. They will send an email saying a different appointment time than what you agreed to. I had to fill out my medical history three times over four appts. I will never return, except to get my records out to a different dentist. I will recommend people stay away and go to other places.
Scheduled an appointment to get my Dental Clearance form for my surgery in April. They told me I had to reschedule, this was only for a cleaning. Okay. Then, they told me I need gingivitis deep cleaning. Total is over $1,000. I brush my teeth 3 times a day and floss daily. All about your money, do not recommend. Now in a dead scramble to find a dentist to ensure I can have surgery. Stay Away!!!
Please don't convey that you are out of cigna network on the day of dental visit. We were with you for last three years through Cigna network, but this one visit made us upset since we took official permission and planned this visit along with our kid, last minute message conveyed you are out of cigna network. Please don't treat other patients like this, at least convey them well before on insurance coverage aspects.
It'd be negative if Google had that option. Dr Steven Yuen is beyond condescending and rude. Doesn't listen to you unless you put your foot down. Today walked out of appointment after sitting there for 45 minutes. Had a 830appt time. He numbs me up pretty quickly then walks away. 45min passes and nothing.
Ruined my teeth. I went from having a few cavities which gave me no pain before they did their work to almost all of my teeth hurting when I eat for the last year with no end in sight. If you are getting a cleaning, they're fine. If you need any work done, STAY AWAY.
