Lovely place! I very much enjoyed my stay here. Checking in was easy, but I noticed that there can be a line at times. The showers I was in the lower campground are challenging. They have been vandalized, and don't have nearly enough hooks. It's very hard to keep your things dry while taking a shower, so I suggest bringing a garbage bag to put everything in until after your shower. Include an extra towel to put on the ground to stand on after showering, due to the dirt on the floor of the shower, which turns to mud. There is a shower for the disabled, with a bench that will lift up. It does have a lower shower head that sadly is mostly broken. There is a ramp to the showers/bathrooms on one side, But I suspect that this would be a very challenging place to be in a wheelchair. The sand and fine sandy dirt are everywhere. The machine that dispenses tokens for the shower does not accept quarters, but does accept all denominations of dollar bills. The bills do need to be in very good condition. You get 5 min. per token.
We come to Bodega Bay every year. We meet up with friends from a far as Kentucky. We camp at Sonoma coast state park. We have been doing this for almost 35 years. We like this park best because there are hot showers. You pay a dollar for 5 minute token. A great place to go and have fun.Location: 5/5
I wasn't expecting much coming here but was pleasantly surprised. The campground had many great spots, most of which had plenty of shade. Water spigots, bathrooms, and rinsing stations were conveniently located throughout the campground as well. Bathrooms were clean and stocked. Only issue I had was that it wasn't clear how far away the beach was to the campground. It's within the grounds but you'll want to drive there, it can be walked but it isn't fun.
A great place to go camping and get away from the Central Valley summer heat. Must make reservations early, they book up fast. Bathrooms with flushing toilets, hot water and showers. Showers cost $1 for 2 minutes. A machine at the bathrooms will trade cash for tokens. Walking distance to the best crab sandwiches and clam chowder in California!!!!
Great location by the beach. There is a trail to the beach but they also have a parking lot at the beach entrance if you don't want to walk. I definitely recommend grabbing some clam chowder at Spud Point.Location: 5/5
Always a great experience, stayed here once about 20 years ago, and enjoying this beautiful dunes/beach campground again.
Awesome campground but our battery died so we walked to I think site 55 to ask for a simple jump but the guy claimed he was just a maintenance guy and didn’t want to help us even though we have the cables. He said we had to go ask the other camp host but pointed us in completely the wrong direction. Ended up getting a jump from another camper because we couldn’t find the other camp host’s site and realized later when glancing at a camp map that the other camp host was nowhere near where the guy pointed us. Other staff was very kind and welcoming though.
Dirty bathrooms & dirty showers. I have been to other state parks and they were not this bad. Trash cans are not in every area. Only good thing about this place is the sites were clean.
Best campground i have been so far. Great location with camps not too close to each other to respect privacy.
Nice campground, decent bathrooms with hot showers $1. Late April was cold and windy without sun, not the campground’s fault, but something to think about.
