I decided to take the entire process online, and submit our applications by mail. At first getting mine and my daughter’s a minor Brazilian Passports was frustrating. However, I must confess it wasn’t the Consulate’s fault. Once we learned the signatures of both parents had to be notarized AND certified by the County Clerk, things went EXTREMELY smooth. Getting a passport for a child was as it should taken very seriously, and we appreciate that. Once I had submitted photos of the required documents and received a mailing confirmation from the consulate a single page with a big QR code in it I mailed everything on a Monday morning and received the documents and passports Friday of the same week! No appointments, no lines, no dragging my wife and kid to the city. Amazing. The Consulate asks that people email instead of showing up or calling with questions. I did and the replies were prompt, friendly and informative. I know there are plenty of negative reviews here, and I totally understand how frustrating these processes can be it’s serious business!, but I have nothing but good things to say. Thank you!
I was treated well from the reception until the end of my appointment, the staff were great ‘ s Thanks Consulate New York , see you next time.
Have a flash back to the old nightmare days dealing with super incompetents, they want to renew their passport by mail, however the service by email, the person on the other side makes it more complicated than it clarifies, days trying to solve a simple question, they don't answer the phone, and you have to ask the same thing 4x for a demented person on the other side to try to reason. I'm just trying to renew a passport I don't mind having it in my maiden name but they are complicating and bureaucratic, prepare your nerves.
can someone tell me how to get an appointment at nyc consulate. like all things brazilian, they make it as difficult as possible to get it done.
The staff has very low attention to detail e they don't do how to do their jobs. Unfortunately, very low problem-solving ability.
Very courteous and friendly personnel. Keep up the good work!
I agreed fly to Miami, or call Miami you will have much better experience, if you call Ny consulate, you will listen too many information, after all they have the option number 8 to talk to attendants, but the phone automatically hang up on you. Nice.
The tourist visa process was super easy once I actually found the documents needed to apply / how to apply on their website. I applied online and uploaded all the required docs - they got back to me in less than 24 hours to schedule an appointment. I got an appointment the next morning, and had my visa within an hour. The entire process from the time of applying to getting my visa took two days and it was super smooth - very impressed. Only thing I'd recommend is having the website be in English as more visa speakers don't speak Portuguese.
I went to the Brazilian Consulate in New York to renew my passport this week. I was so impressed with the woman who attended me; she was friendly, efficient, and very professional. I wish I had gotten her name. Within an hour and a half, I had my new Brazilian passport in my hand. Excellent service all around. It makes me proud to be Brazilian. Afonso S. Albergaria, Jr.
Not the first time I had a very upsetting visit at the Brasilian Consulate. Had a few simple question because the website was confusing. I left Brasil at a young age and I am not very advanced in my Portuguese. As in reading and writing. Therefore I was hoping/ asking for some assistance with my paperwork. The lady who worked at the consulate told me “you seem to be the only one in the world who can’t figure this out. I have more important things to do.” The two security guards were rude and laughed at me and made fun of me.
