Joye handled the arrangements for my mother. She was very helpful and efficient. She was kind, caring and patient. Joye is a professional who does the job well. I felt understood and valued. She stayed with us until the completion of the final service.
We worked with Greg and he was extremely accommodating, knowledgeable, responsive and polite. We were dealing with the unexpected loss of our mother and Maxwell and Brownlie helped us through it. Other funeral homes in the area seemed more interested in slamming us with crazy prices rather than listening to what we needed. I definitely recommend talking to Greg and the team if you are in an unfortunate situation of needing a funeral home. My only slight complaint would be that one of the times I called the woman I spoke to wasn’t all that polite- but that happens and we are all human- Greg made up for it!
Brownly funeral home did both my grandmothers and most recently my brothers funeral. They are amazing people. We just worked with Gregg he was so sweet and thorough he made the whole process simple and he is very comforting. Thank you for everything.
Our experience with Joy for my Mom’s funeral was incredibly thoughtful, compassionate and professional. Having grown up with parents in the cemetery/funeral home industry, I chose Brownlie/Maxwell, after visiting most funeral homes in Brevard County, because I know a thing or two about this business. This is the place to go to for funeral services. We praise this firm on service and compassion - Joy even headed our service at the cemetery - on her day off! This is a rarity in todays world and clearly demonstrates their compassion. We will forever be grateful. Thank you dearly.
I have always found their funeral directors and staff to be kind, professional and helpful. Their funeral services are so beautiful and high quality. I'll never forget the funeral service that I attended for one of my students, who was only in her 20's. Brownlie & Maxwell made her funeral service beautiful, comforting and uplifting. This funeral home really goes the extra mile, and I greatly appreciate that. I also appreciate their reasonable prices. When you lose a loved one, it is good to be in trusted hands.
Myself and my mom met with Ryan on two different occasions and I must say we were pleased with his professionalism and the overall planning of my dad’s funeral arrangements. He walked us step by step through the process and took time to answer our questions. When the day finally arrived for my dad’s funeral and burial, everything went according to plan. We even had a small viewing Friday night before the funeral. Ryan made it clear that if we thought we might need more time for people to arrive after work to let him know and it would not be a problem to have more time. Five stars all the way!
All to often we have an experience and say “I’ve got to write a nice review.” Then time goes by and we never get to it. This time I’m getting to it. Fourteen months ago my mother was put on hospice care. We had recently moved to Melbourne and needed a local funeral home. My parents had pre-paid for everything in another city. I called different funeral homes asking for pricing to coordinate my new requirements since moving to a new city. I was fortunate to be able to reach out to funeral homes without the pressure of a recent death. While doing my search I had the pleasure of speaking with Mr. Brownlie. He was low key, no pressure, and clearly explained my choices. He sent a quote and fourteen months later my mother passed away. I called and spoke to Joye Eiker, a Funeral Director at Brownlie Maxwell. I joked that she had an interesting first name for a Funeral Director. She, too, was very low key and EXTREMELY knowledgeable. I came with my son to sign contracts and select a coffin. Once that was done she contacted the cemetery we were transporting my mother to. While my folks prepaid for EVERYTHING, the remote cemetery mentioned an additional item that they claim was not on the contract. Well, I know how to defend myself and I looked at my son and said to him “don’t worry, we are not going to pay one more cent.” Well, I never had to argue my case. Joye made sure we did not have to pay anything more. I did not have to get involved. She then wanted to see in writing that we were all set. WELL, the cemetery claimed we needed to select a casket from one of three manufacturers. At that point, Joye did not want to take any funds from me. She wanted to make sure that we got approval on the casket. I told her to at least take a deposit. She refused. Again, Joye took care of that situation, getting documentation to show the one we selected met the cemetery’s requirements. The cemetery agreed that we could use the one we just selected. After transporting her to the cemetery, we invited Joye to have lunch with us. While she was hesitant, we let her know we really wanted to thank her for going above what she had to do. Having lunch with Joye just confirmed what a good person she is. If you desire a low key, no pressure funeral home, I can’t say enough about how they pulled through for my family. P.S. Joye is a stickler for details. She is a rare person who actually READS all of the clauses in a contract. That combined with her understanding the laws regulating her industry allows her to protect YOUR interest.
I called to obtain details for a coworkers passing and the woman who answered the phone was quite rude. People who are grieving don’t need that behavior. Very disappointing. I haven’t needed their services yet, but due to this first impression, I will look elsewhere. I don’t want anyone talking to my family or friends in that manner. Having a bad day? That’s one thing. But your job description requires hospitality, not hostility.
Dear Reader, In Oct 2020 my mother of 87 years passed away after being her caregiver of 14 years. Having contracted earlier with Brownlie-Maxwell for a cremation and memorial service I quickly became aware at the passing of my mother that they were now my caregivers at a needful time. Through detailed plans executed in a professional and caring manner that went beyond my expectations. Allowing me to focus on what really matters, family and relationships. Thereby I recommend Brownlie-Maxwell for your family's time of need.
This place is uncompassionate and all about the money. My mother had insurance but it would take approximately 3 to 4 months before they were able to get their money. They were unwilling to wait and therefore, wanted me to "pay $8,500 for her funeral or go ahead and have her cremated". Those were the funeral directors words. Thankfully, I found another Funeral Home, who was willing to wait for my mother's insurance and understood that not everybody has $8,500 to spend. Not only that, I didn't even get condolences from the funeral home. Worst experience ever especially at the worst time of your life.
