The Center for Film & Media Studies promotes film & media studies and production at UC and around Cincinnati.
The establishment of the Center for Film & Media Studies at the University of Cincinnati positions UC as one of the leaders in the rapidly developing field of film and media studies.
Our program allows the intellectual study of film and media to flourish and offer students innovative course design and a unique path for graduate study. We embody the tenets of interdisciplinary study, bringing together talented faculty, students, and media professionals from across the university and around the City to collaborate on courses, research projects and programs. UC and the city of Cincinnati possess a wealth of talents in film and media production and in film and media theory and history. These rich resources have enabled UC to build an innovative and transformative center in which students and faculty from across the university take an interdisciplinary approach to combine theory and practice with production and analysis.
The Center for film & media studies also embraces the university’s commitment to our place in the community. The city of Cincinnati has a rich film and media culture. As the city’s university, we are uniquely positioned to foster exciting partnerships between the university and community organizations through avenues such as screenings, exhibitions and festivals, public workshops and lectures. This center will house a multi- media archive and play host to visiting scholars and artists in residence.
