Charter Fitness

As one of my first gym memberships in the area, I'm always glad to know Charter is there when I want to get a workout in. A smaller scale, basic gym. Though you have everything available from beginners to advanced. The weight floor is decent size, so theres not overcrowding. Plenty of cardio equipment, elliptical and treadmills. There are 5 stairmasters, 4 row machines, and a few bikes. Theres a newer HIIT area right up front and center. They do offer classes and team as well as personal training. Youd have to call in about schedules and pricing, since I dont use them. There are 2 aqua massage beds that are heavenly. They do provide towels. Locker rooms are clean as well as showers. They are now open 24/7, but unstaffed late and middle of night. You'll scan your membership to gain access, and cant bring a guest during unstaffed hours. So keep the vampire friends out but get vascular any time day or night. No fangs required.

The gym isn't bad but just like most gyms they try and lock you into contracts and even if things come up in life and you have to cancel they wont allow it and make you pay penalty's or jump through hoops to cancel with a third party. I can't stand gyms that try and force you to stay even in times when you can't and try to screw you even if it is out of your control. I will pass on ever going here again and I will find a gym that doesn't try and screw over the customers.

Giving this place three stars just because the equipment that’s currently there isn’t being serviced. The staff should be all over that. There are treadmills that needs serving. Row machine screen is flashing a white screen. I do enjoy coming here for its never packed and I am able to access the machines. The team needs to do a look over of their equipment.

Not too busy, and not really over crowdedor atleast during the times I go workout. I would say most of the people that work out here tend to be in their 20s and 30s so it's a nice young, vibrant, friendly atmosphere. Most of the equipment is newer, so that's a plus. When machines break they are typically fixed within a week, so not much down time. The price is fair, not too pricey. I still kinda miss the Orland Park location. The building was much newer, and had a lot more room, but the one in Tinley is still pretty good.

The only reason I come to this location is because of my trainer Monica. She has amazing attention to detail and really cares about good form when doing exercises. Her classes are always fun and challenging and she pushes me to do my best, even when I don’t believe it myself. Charter Fitness Tinley Park is very lucky to have her. The gym as a whole is good, but many of the treadmills and stairmasters are showing their age. People notice. Some feel really old. Also the punching bag left a giant hole in the wall that they covered with a poster. I suppose that “fixes” it but I just find it funny. Might wanna get that looked at, maybe. Improving the equipment would be a good investment for the future.

Interestingly called ' CFX' now here in Tinley Park! Maybe it stands for...Charter Fitness X? I couldn't know. Just a coincidence. A little small but it has many things you need. Wish there was more rooms that are smaller for personal use but it's good overall. They've got a particular monthly price for about $25 with all the bells and whistles like entry at any time, water massage bed, etc on the 17th day of every month and they have this harsh subscription that has a autopay feature and penalty for leaving early and it's only their location. Not sure on the last part. Guess where they want you choose? Either way, I like it for what it is.

*SCAM ALERT* I signed up for Charter Fitness in Orland Park a year and a half ago. In spring of 2020, I called to cancel my membership due to the pandemic. I was told over the phone by a manager that my membership was cancelled. It’s now 2021 and that location is now closed. Now suddenly I’m getting charges on my account from this Tinley Park location. I called and was told that they have no record of that manager closing my account and that he didn’t follow policy because you have to close your account in person therefore they won’t offer any refund. What a clever scheme! I wonder how many other people have been taken by this same scam.

I love this Gym the Staff here is so nice and courteous. They always do a good job at keeping the club clean and staying on top of fixing broken equipment, I also love they have TVs on the Treadmills. Lastly They're always willing to help me achieve my goals and giving me a happy welcoming environment to workout!
