I don't write too many reviews, but I wanted to take a moment to thank the Cheat Lake Animal Hospital staff and Dr. Becky Harvey. We had to put our cat, Sammy, down last week and everyone was so kind, considerate, and caring. They allowed us to have as much time as we needed w Sammy, and even let us pay the bill beforehand so that we could just leave when it was over. I asked if we could have Dr. Harvey put him down, and she took time out of her busy schedule to come over and do it for us. We had a vet appointment earlier that week where she also took time to call and explain everything to me since I wasn't at the appointment. On top of all of that, Dr. Harvey handwrote a sympathy card to us--which just blew me away. We also have a dog and I will definitely be asking to see her again. I can't recommend Dr. Harvey enough -- and all of the caring staff too. Thank you for helping us in a difficult time.
We had our cat treated at Cheat Lake Animal Hospital recently. We can’t find the words to THANK everyone at Cheat Lake!! They are the kindest, most patient, and caring vet hospital. When you go to a pet hospital, you understand that they need to triage and handle the most critical patients first. It’s not rudeness, it’s very much a sign of caring. They may be a bit of a drive, but it’s definitely worth it. Highly recommend!!
My husband and I needed to put our dog to sleep on a Sunday and we were so lucky this place was open. All of the staff was so kind and understanding. They let us have as much time as we needed with our dog before they started the process. The made us a clay paw to remember him, gave us some of his hair and put his body in a beautiful blue bag to bring him home in. They made a hard day so much easier on us. Couldn’t recommend them enough
I called this office about an emergency visit for my pet. I was not given clear information about whether they were accepting new emergencies and for what kind of patients all what I thought was standard information that I've had with all other emergency vets in the area and when I asked for clarification I received the most rude response I have ever experienced in my life. I was told that I had "one more warning" before the staff member was going to "hang up on me." I cannot even imagine how terrible the service is here if this is how the staff treat people calling in for emergencies. Obviously people with sick pets are anxious and need help understanding what course of action is best for their animal. We are allowed to ask follow up questions. I cannot convey how shocked I am at this behavior.
Over all I'm satisfied but I'll put a story behind why I only have 4 stars to give them ... Ida given it 5 stars if the one lady older red head who first took us and our precious 11 year old Pitt into the examine room didn't make us feel judged , just the way she spoke to us and was looking at us was plain rude but I Will say that was THANKFULLY the only encounter we had with her, we didn't see her again. Every single other person who came into our room was wonderful, kind, and compassionate which was very calming and nice being we got horrible news that we'd have to put our baby down. Thankfully we got to spend as much time as we wanted with him and they took very good care of our baby Dutch . A huge special thanks to the actual vet tech I believe Amanda was her name for being soo kind , compassionate, comforting as we said our final see you later . She too kept a hand on him and you could see how hurt she was by this as well . Putting our baby down was one of the hardest things I've had to go thru in life as he was my sweet loving baby but cheat lake made it just slightly easier so thank you .
I would like to express just how grateful I am for Dr. Kristen Hughes and the entire staff at Cheat Lake Animal Hospital! After just a few short hours of us returning home, my sweet little yorkie, Ellie, is almost back to her normal self! All of you are wonderful and I think all of you should be recognized for it! So many thanks to all of you again!
I will never forget my experience here. I had to make the gut wrenching decision to put my sweet baby to sleep because of a large tumor in her stomach. I was inconsolable. I was so emotional I could barely breathe. My heart was shattered. But the women that were working that night 1am at that at Cheat Lake Animal Hospital were literal angels sent from heaven. They comforted me, consoled me, and treated the situation delicately, with grace and kindness. I had gone to a different Animal hospital earlier that day Avets in Monroeville. I took my cat away from there and left because they were cold and heartless and almost robotic. They had no humanity, me and my cat were just another # there. I'm SO SO glad that I ended up driving 2 hours to WV to Cheat Lake. Since then, they even sent me a beautiful card that was really heart warming. I would recommend this place to anyone, no matter how far the drive.
They were able to perform a specialty surgery on my cat that other vets in the area declined. I rushed my cat in late at night and the staff was so helpful and kind. I am so thankful to them for saving my baby. Thank you to all the vets, techs, and staff for all that you do to save our pets! They are reasonable with the pricing compared to other facilities in the area as well. Special thanks for Dr. Wolfe, Dr. Walsh, and Dr. Kinney but everyone there was so great
If I could give a negative 5 stars to review the service my pet received from the staff at Cheat Lake Animal Hospital on the morning of 8/10/23, I would. Their care, concern, and compassion deserve nothing less. They advertise they are a 24-hour emergency vet clinic, and many people take their animals there because of this. However, at 7 am there is not REALLY a vet there. What actually happens is a receptionist triages your pet from her chair, behind the desk by simply asking what’s going on. When you explain, she offers you to sit and wait until 10 am to see the vet. Unless, something “urgent” comes in then it could be longer. When you question, isn’t this a 24-hour clinic? You’re told, well if your dog had been hit by a car, then of course I would call the vet in. Seriously folks, if you’re taking your pets to this clinic thinking they have 24-hour emergency care, you should clarify, because it actually depends on what the receptionist feels is an emergency. I’m guessing her extensive medical training and x-ray type vision led her to the conclusion this was not, pain is not, the cause of the pain is not. Lastly, good luck getting in touch with Debra, the manager, because she doesn’t return your calls, so if you have issues with the care your pet received you’re just on your own with that. I’ve done some searching after this, and most veterinarian clinics websites recommend taking your pet to Fairmont in the event of an emergency. I guess that’s because there are actually people there who will SEE your pet! My pet sure deserved better from this place that is supposed to be an, “Animal Hospital” and yours does as well. Clarify now, not when your pet needs them!! When any living thing is in pain it should be an emergency in my book. I still can’t wrap my mind around how you can see an animal suffer and turn them away, so you don’t have to call the vet in. I will never understand that, and we will never go back to that “Animal Hospital,” and I hope no one else is made to feel that helpless when trying to get their animal care.
I am so grateful that this vet opted to see my Luna. I called three other vets in my area Washington pa and none of them would take her because of wait lists. I called at 2:30am and got there by 3:30. They were welcoming and made sure they ran the proper tests on her. She has a stomach virus and I didn’t want to take any risks with what was coming out of her
