Very nice place to stay. Kind owner, territory smells pine trees, white sand beach, and many free water toys. Washroom clean and fresh. Recommended to visit. Thank you Restrooms: Clean spacious
Nice quiet campground. Owner is super nice and helpful. Place to swim fish kayak. Feed the turtles! Had a lot of fun!
My mom and I loved our stay at Cross Rip. When we arrived, Catherine met us at the office. She let us know about available supplies cash/venmo, super convenient and where our campsite was. She met us at our site with her pup, so it was super easy to find Our site had fresh mulch and a gorgeous view! We wished we could've stayed longer than two nights, but we were passing through and visiting friends. There are lots of available activities at Cross Rip, along with cute gardens and clean restrooms. Two city girls fared it pretty well, and we still say "glamping." Thank you, Catherine and Rebecca, for making our stay in Virginia amazing. Your campground is lovely!
Someone described it as hidden gem and boy was it true. We camped here a September weekend with excellent weather. Got a great site by the water with great camping neighbors. This campground is small and privately owned by some of the friendliest owners. They will absolutely go out of their way to help. Not the most modern and updated, but the throwback appeal and close to nature location make it such a rare find. You can fish, crab, kayak, swim, disc golf, and chill by the bay watching sailboats or dolphins yes we saw a pod less than 25 yard away. Kudos to my wife finding this place!
Very nice, quiet little camp ground. This was our first outing in a new to us camper trailer so we were looking for a low hey location that was affordable but had high ratings and good reviews. Cross Rip checked all the boxes. Positives about Cross Rip: The whole camp ground was clean, there is plenty of signage indicating intended rules, courtesies for others, etc. It was very quiet and all were respectful of other sites, and friendly to boot. The sites were clean and well prepped for the next campers, you are able to somewhat rearrange the fire pit and bench if needed to suit your camper entry/awning, and utilities. I'm not sure this is the case with all sites or even encouraged, but it was possible on our site and we were not questioned when I had to move a few things to accommodate our particular trailer. Bathrooms include showers and multiple toilets. They were clean consistently over the entire weekend, and we felt comfortable showering using their facilities. There is a convenient sink to wash basic items at if needed as well. Our only note of advice would really be for families that are looking for things to do outside of the great little beach, fishing, and swimming they offer. As there are very few locations to visit of interest to children. There are a few parks within a half hour, and a maritime museum, but beyond that you'll have to travel a bit further for anything outside of simply relaxing at your campsite. : Overall we had a great experience just the two of us relaxing at our site, the fishing pier, the little beach, and on the trail near the pond. Would definitely recommend if you want a quaint, quiet, and relaxed location. Cross Rip deserves its high rating for that reason alone.
Active, yet peaceful and scenic. Right on the edge of the Chesapeake Bay, a nice beachy area with great views and many activities already mentioned in other reviews. We appreciated how clean the campground was and it’s obvious why this spot is so popular. Seems to be very family oriented and gets quiet fairly early in the evening. Had a great time relaxing, enjoying a fire and had a great night’s sleep. Despite being at the end of the neck, I was surprised that I had strong cellular connectivity which was nice. I believe there is also guest WiFi although I did not use it. Thank you!
Spent a week here and we had a blast. It's quiet, shady, beautiful site and the staff acted like family. We're retired from Richmond so we found us a local place to frequently camp. There are great places to purchase fresh seafood for grilling and we found 3 cities within 30 minutes to souvenir shop.
Absolutely wonderful campground in Northern Neck! Beautiful views with tons of charm. Access to swim in the river/bay, sand toys for the kids to play with along with kayaks, paddle boards and more ready to use. Easy to pay for firewood through venmo! It was so nice to be able to borrow dog leads while we were there since we forgot. Bathrooms were clean and air conditioned! Friendly owners and patrons. Highly recommend!
If you are looking for a quiet, old school camping look no further. We loved it so much by day 2 we booked the same site for next year. Owners extremely accommodating and nice. This is a hidden gem. If you camp with kids, the water is their playground. The turtle pond, herons, osprey and eagle sightings were exciting. Bring your binoculars! Bathhouse is clean!
We stayed Thursday to Monday in one of the premier waterfront sites. The views were amazing of the bay and the sunrise! Many amenities are available at no cost such as kayaks, pabbleboards, pots and pans, life jackets and more! The premier sites are worth the extra money. We would definitely come back again!
