I visited Daniel George for lunch with friends. We were seated in the private dining room. The doors on the room wouldn't stay shut and we had to put a chair in front of them because they kept opening up each time an employee closed them. The food was okay, nothing over the top. I had shrimp, cucumber salad and fried okra. The service was great!! Parking is limited so plan to arrive early to secure a spot.
This was a great spot to stop at for dinner at the end of ten hour drive. It would have been a great spot at the end of a ten minute drive. Service was great, menu really interesting and everything we ordered just delicious. We over ordered just to sample as much as we could and nothing disappointed. Well worth the trip if you’re anywhere near Birmingham.
Phenomenal steaks, great ambiance, and a fun vibe. Wanted to try everything on the menu!!!
Great dinner and fun At DG with our new in-laws from Memphis. We all had delicious starters and main course - my snapper was the best and I do not share. Wait staff is excellent .
The crab claws half and half and vegetable plate were amazing! We loved this mountain brook hidden gem.
Food was pretty good but very small portions. Almost ordered the fish. Glad I didn't as the piece that came out was smaller than an appetizer. Service was friendly but abysmal. It took until after I was done with main course to get a second drink. Wine arrived after main course was finished. We sat for over 20 minutes with plates empty before they came to ask if we wanted desert or the check. Lamps over the table had a thick coating of dust as well.
Everything was overcooked. My risotto cake was basically a hockey puck. The pappardelle was practically inedible. The DG Cosmo was delicious and really the only redeeming element of the experience except our server, she was great.
Dropped in for lunch after looking at the menu, which looked like a 'meat and three' type lunch menu. The roasted brussel sprouts and fried green tomatoes were very good. The hamburger steak left me confused. It was described as coming with onions and gravy. In the meat and three universe this means enough gravy for the mashed potatoes. What I received had melted cheese and a few grilled onions........and no gravy. I considered that perhaps I got the chefs burger patty by mistake:
Wonderful atmosphere, knowledgeable staff & great service. My meal was the house standard of gulf fish. At the time it was Red Snapper. It was perfectly prepared and absolutely delishious. Attire was mid level casual, but not pretentious. I would recommend this spot with confidence if you are in the Mountain Brook area.
What a great little spot for a fabulous meal! This white table cloth restaurant has delicious southern cooking with just the right touch of elegance and style. Highly recommend you trying this place. You won't be disappointed.
