We were on the patio, Friday evening semi-busy. I've only been here a couple times before for drinks with friends, which the patio is great for in the summertime. I was quite disappointed with the food...mid at best: chips were stale, flautas fried too long ending up tough and chewy chicken was seasoned well though; beans and rice were dry and unappetizing. Pic I posted is the extent of what I ate. No qualms with my family's meals, but nothing to rave about either. We paid our bill in full and tipped our server well, as he was polite, attentive, and did a good job. No outward complaints, as I realize sometimes restaurant kitchens have "off" days but we likely won't be coming back any time soon.
Been coming here for about 10 years. I love the vibe and atmosphere, especially on the rooftop. The staff is always stellar. Personally I do not think the food is as good as it used to be, and not the cheapest option for Mexican style food. That said, it's certainly not bad and hasn't stopped me from coming back. I was just there two days ago and had a great time.
Nice Mexican restaurant with some fun outdoor seating. I always opt for the excellent Burrito plate minus beans which is quite filling.Food: 5/5
This place is so pretty, but it's really not a great place to grab a meal. Rooftop seating was awesome, but the waiter was inattentive and unenthusiastic, they only had spicy salsa, the food was really flavorless, and the prices are sky high along with charging for simple add-ons.. just not a personal pick for me.Food: 1/5
A cleaner brighter version of the college Mexican restaurant of the 70's. Same homemade tortilla chips and my personal favorite table salsa. Service with a wry smile and a great price. If you haven't, do! A personal favorite.
Another MUST visit when I'm back in town!! Cheese Dip & Topopo Salad are like no other Mexican dish and you just gotta try it! SO good!! And the chips! Social: @clydekeepFood: 5/5
The prices were very high compared to the quality. The Chips were stale, the salsa was almost dry it sounds weird but it was very thick almost like tomato paste for something that is not complimentary I was shocked at the low quality. The “cheese dip”…. I have no words other than I have no idea why it was recommended. I wanted to keep an open mind and tried the enchiladas, they were better than the gorditas. But the rice and beans lacked flavor. This was my second attempt and still disappointed. I’ll be avoiding this restaurant in the future.
Asked for take out and if the food was already prepared or if it needed to be made from scratch. Was told it was ready. 20 minutes later and several customers arriving after me and taking out before me, I asked if the food was being made from scratch. Was told soup is not a priority. Asked for a refund and won’t be back. The manager saying they were backed up 25 minutes would have been helpful prior to ordering, as well as that the soup was not already made.
El Azteco is usually my 'go to' place when in East Lansing, but it has really gone downhill lately. I went in February and again in September when in town. Last week I ordered ground beef nachos and they were just not good. They was probably over 1/2 a pound of ground beef just dumped over the chips with hardly any lettuce, tomatoes, jalapenos, or cheese. Plus, the salsa is really not good and they no longer offer mild salsa. You have to ask for a red sauce. I highly doubt I will be going back, which is really sad because I've been going there for over 30 years. :
Heard good things about this place but the service is EXTREMELY slow. And once the food arrives, you are like, what took so long. It's very average simple Mex food. And chips and salsa seem generic store boughtFood: 2/5
