Went in the evening as a day visit only not camping. $20 day parking permit. Spent an amazing 2 hours at the falls which was a very short walk from the parking lot. The stairs down to the river was not long. When we went, the flow was heavy so there weren't many dry places on the rocks to set up chairs. Some areas were slippery so walked slowly and with caution. The water has a pull below the falls so be careful with little ones especially if using a floatation device. The depth of the water varies considerably as the floor is large flat rocks and large stones. I wore water shoes so that helped a lot. We enjoyed ourselves a lot. If you fish in the stocked pond, there's an $8 charge per adult, $4 for a child over 13 I think. You're allowed 2 trout which you can keep, and 2 bass which are catch and release. There are fishing rods and tackle boxes for rent. If fishing at the river, it's catch and release. There are no change rooms but there are washrooms which I didn't use. There's a covered pavilion and two swings.
Falls Reserve and their staff have been so great for our youth group camping experiences over the past few years at the group site. Easy to book and register with, and very accommodating. We love that the group site has many plug outlets for charging phones and blowing up air mattresses. The staff regularly stops by to clean the outhouse. The falls itself are always nice to wade and swim in.
Quiet camp ground. Water and electric at my site. Lots of shade. Washroom and shower clean. Steep steps to get to the river. Flat Rock and small falls to play in. Water is shallow. You may want Water shoes.
I liked the campsite a lot specially the no noise free zone, I'ved camped in the past where is so loud you can't even hear your thoughts at night. The only thing is that they don't have a pool for the kids other than that it was very nice. Restrooms: Very clean restrooms Picnic area: They had a very big picnic area, I'm not sure if you have to pay for it but you did have to reserve it.
Overall a very nice campground and great location for fishing the Maitland River. I was disappointed with the condition of our campsite, especially since all other sites around us were well maintained. We had ~4 inches of soaking wet leaves and mud covering the entire site, while the sites around us had green grass or gravel. If the site would've been raked and cleared off prior to our arrival it would have made for a more enjoyable camping experience.
So the camp ground is beautiful well maintained but the issue is you book the site it ask all the information how many adult how many people you pay. Than you arrive and you get told it's 5 buck a night per adult past two. It's 13 dollars for a second car. I asked why this wasn't put in the price when I booked with all the information. They stated just in case someone don't show up. I ask if they didn't show up would anything be refunded anyway they stated no. Honestly not expensive just honestly annoying enough to ruin the start of the weekend.
Very nice campground. Facilities are well kept. Only thing that was extremely disappointing is the so called stocked trout pond. They charged us each to fish it yet the pond is only filled with an overabundance of stunted large mouth bass. Not 1 trout caught or seen during our 4 day trip and many of the seasonal campers said they haven't seen a trout caught since they've been there. We booked this campground on the basis they had a stocked trout pond our son could fish.
A beautiful place to camp. Quiet, and perfect for the family. Lots of close by amenities. Playground: Very small set, but fun for the kids. Restrooms: Constantly being cleaned, well stocked. Picnic area: Very small right by the falls by excellent place to enjoy for the day.
We are here for the long weekend in the radio free camping area and it's our first time here. The site is an ok size and the green space and brush between our side by side neighbours and us is nice. The trail was nice. The problem we have is that there is almost no patrolling of park staff here. The 3 campsites across from us all one large family have been playing music loudly, and partying all weekend. Honestly, it looks like they are having fun, maybe a family reunion or something, and even though I would have preferred a quiet camping weekend, the fun they are having makes me smile and shrug my shoulders. However, the yappy dog that barks *continuously* all day and late into the night all weekend, without anyone on their site seeming to care is making us go a bit nuts. We would normally never complain and just roll with the situations....but this is excessive barking...for hours...and wow...and no campground staff anywhere in sight. On the up side, the stocked pond was fun. We caught some nice fish..rainbow trouts and bass! But I probably wouldn't come back.
Pretty site. Clean shower rooms. Love that we have our own water and electrical outlet--very convenient. The only thing I did not like was that there's no privacy. The only thing that separated us from the next "door" camper was 1 tall tree. Restrooms: The toilet area needed some attention when we were there.
