Our Cleft Lip and Palate Program provides free surgeries and promotes a multidisciplinary team approach to ensure patient follow-up. Sharing Smiles volunteer surgical teams comprised of plastic surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, technicians and others, travel to partner sites to provide reconstructive surgery and hope to children who would otherwise grow up with the physical and emotional distress caused by these facial deformities.
Our Pediatric Therapy Program seeks to establish a formal local network that will support our partner institutions to care for children in need of physical, occupational and speech therapy. Our teams deliver individualized care plans for patients and trains local staff and volunteers to provide ongoing physical therapy and support.
We form partnerships in Spanish and English speaking countries in Latin America and the Caribbean that lead to sustainable pediatric care. Our key partners include: local ministries of health, hospitals/children’s homes, medical professionals, business and community leaders and Rotary International.
Partnering to heal children and provide hope.
We act as a catalyst for the development of sustainable pediatric health through:
• Quality medical missions
• Clinical training and sharing of best practices with partners onsite
• Coordination with local partners to reach annual program/sustainability goals
• Access to Rotary International funding for selected local clinic needs
Sharing Smiles, formerly SHARES International, has provided healing and hope to over 22,000 families since 1995.
