Description

The first Forest Hill location has served the Memphis area since 1888. We believe memories serve as living tributes to the departed, but also play an important part in the process of grieving. For this reason, we take great care in arranging personalized funeral services to create a meaningful celebration of a person who meant so much.

Forest Hill East location was established in 1971, and is located right off an exit from Interstate 40, with two lakes in front of the beautiful plantation-style funeral home. The 70 acres is also home to our year-round resident wild ducks and geese. The grounds also feature a circled drive way with a flag presentation, a 9/11 memorial, a special upright section, and trees that are hundreds of years old.

Forest Hill East offers in-ground burials, lawn crypts, mausoleums, traditional funerals, personalized funerals, memorial and graveside services, various cremation options, and military honors for Veterans.

"As a trusted, local, full-service facility, we specialize in creating meaningful and personalized services for funeral, cemetery and cremation arrangements, as well as advance planning guidance and aftercare support."

I wanted to give this cemetery 0 stars. Don’t bury your love one there. We have been waiting almost two years for his monument with his son doing everything humanly possible to get one put down. Not being able to stand my husbands grave not marked I purchased a very small marker with his name and dates, this small marker has been down for at least a year. Today I go to put something down for his birthday and his grave is stripped bare. They threw away his little name marker as well as his vase of flowers, not having a marker I had to use a temporary vase but it was no more in the way than the ones with peoples monuments. So now my husband is back to being a nameless grave, it breaks my heart.
I really regret choosing this place. I am Catholic and the cross that was placed on my fathers grave was blessed with prayers that were done when he passed away. I went to visit my father grave and it was no longer there And all the decor I had placed. Below are the before and after pictures. I went to the office and spoke with two members of the funeral department an all they said was that someone could have just stole it‍.
Edit 11/28 I did contact Wecare and you all are completely ignoring me via email too. I sent a nice little follow-up this morning. My next step is to contact the local news media. There is so much grave damage at this cemetery caused by you all. I wish I could leave zero stars. What does one have to do to get a market fixed that was damaged by your lawnmowers??? Isiah told me it would be fixed within a week after our 9/19 meeting and that was a lie. Numerous phone calls and messages left and no response. I have emailed Isiah and wecare and have not received any sort of reply. I guess BBB is next.
My father's funeral was the most untraditional funeral I had ever been to in my life a few months ago. I've have several family members and friends buried at all their locations but mainly at that location. The front door was not in use at the time of the funeral. There was no sign posted to explain to the public where they needed to enter. Apparently the family now sits out in the open with everyone else. Found very odd since I didn't understand what was wrong with that area where the family would've originally sat during the funeral. Though we had went the day before the funeral to go over it. None of these things were brought to our attention.. on the day of, it took over 20 minutes for them to get their music together for it. As we, family and friends tried sitting there patiently for them to fix the problem. Once the indoor part was over, there was a briefing from a very kind gentleman who explained where the graveside would take place immediately following. However, there was no special car apparently for the family to ride behind the hurse in. Though it was sitting there 2 of them actually as we lined up yo follow. Though my father paid several years ago for all of this in advance. I'm not sure if that's the problem or the new management. But it was quite embarrassing I found personally. Instead of mourning my father's death like any daughter that day. I felt obligated to keep having to apologize for the funeral homes mistakes and mishaps as was being given my consolances. This is isn't a type of event or something of that nature where you get a redoe on. This was the very last time we as a large group come together to lay my daddy down in his resting place for ever. My mother is supposed to be buried next to my father when her time comes. And I as well, have my own plot and paid for funeral just like them. And right now, I'm not very comfortable with that after witnessing one after another after another mishap at my father's funeral.
I lost my mom last month and Elizabeth, Shelby and others here made it so much easier for me and have helped me with each step before and after the funeral. Very grateful to each one of them
My dad passed away at the height of the pandemic. Like all businesses at the time, Forest Hill East was struggling. I can’t candy coat it. Things at the time were absurd. But, a wonderful man took over the management of this location as well as Northridge and upon reaching out to him, all issues were resolved with utmost care and kindness. The new manager is working diligently to turn things around. The landscaping is beautifully cared for and repairs are being made to the facade of the funeral home.
I live out of town, and I have been trying since last September to get my parents graveside cleaned. When I passed through Memphis to put flowers on my parents grave I was appalled at the condition it was in. It was overgrown with grass and covered with dirt and black mold. After meeting with Patrick and promises of getting it cleaned nothing was ever done. In addition to meeting with Patrick I placed several phone calls to him. My husband, Michael, went through Memphis today and stopped by the gravesite today place new flowers on the grave. It was evident nothing had ever been done, and the gravesite was in deplorable condition. He met in person with Patrick who said he would have to get his corporate office out of town to try to get this maintenance job performed. It is obvious there are major problems here. I hope no one else purchases anything from this company! You will be severely disappointed in your services. Linda Oliver
I have been trying to work with the staff to have the mud removed from my Mother's marker. You can't even see her name or dates of birth and death. I have submitted 3 work orders. Sunday is Mother's Day and I guess I will have to go out there and clean it off myself. I have not received anything from the funeral home. I was out there on Monday and nothing has been done to clean it off and the doors were locked. I have given up on the funeral home taking care of my Mother's grave. I took the necessary equipment out there and cleaned off the headstones and reattached the vases. This isn't the best way to honor our departed loved ones and I do not recommend anyone to do business with these people. They not only work for Forest Hill but other funeral homes in the area.
It's really sad a funeral home is being ran so poorly. They really need new management obviously. The inside and outside of the building are falling apart. And the employees are not professional at all.
My mother, L. Daniels, passed on December 30, 2020. After many calls and an in person visit to the office the date is still not on my mom's headstone. Today It's Feb 7, 2022. What will it take to make this right? Today is Feb 10, 2022. I have been email routed to another address: Stonemor Customer Care. That email asks for the location of the cemetery so that they can direct me to the correct representative. Dear Stonemor Customer Care, you and the correct representative get together and figure out how to handle the ongoing problem. All I want from you is the correct date on my mother's headstone. I don't know who you talk to at corporate, locally, or otherwise and I don't care. What I want from you is an email with the estimated completion date and a phone picture that the services have been rendered. Once I receive the picture of the stone with the correct date I will cease all correspondence with you. That alone should be enough to move the item to the top of the list. I received a call from Isaiah May, sales manager. he says the scheduled date will be Thursday, Feb., 17th. I will wait for the picture.
