Went on a whim! As soon as you walk into the place, it smells great! Went on a Friday, so a small wait. Drinks were strong! Server was great. Food was so good! We ordered 2 apps and our entree. Everything was massive. We loaded everything home. Will be back again with a bigger appetite.
Nice little joint in the Hyattsville, MD area. The brew everything right upstairs, recommend the red ale. Bacon Cheeseburger was good, the double is almost too much as the beed dominates the sandwich. Added a side of beer cheese to give the fries some flare, good choice. Other notables on near by tables; fish n chips and pizza looked worth trying. Will return.
Great local place. We visited with our son, daughter-in-law and grandson. Great local beer. I had the pulled pork and was very good. Our son had a pizza and that was also very good. We went to a late lunch, so although it was busy, it was no problem getting a table.Food: 5/5
I visited about 3 weeks ago for the first time. I really enjoyed the food and service. I went to there shop inside and it was awesome. Purchased some lotion and socks too. Will definitely go back.
We had a great time at Franklins! The onion rings were large and plentiful. The lamb sliders were REALLY good. I had the fried blue catfish which was delicious and got me a to-go box. I had a bite of someone's Cubano which was delicious as well. I also had a daiquiri which was interesting because it's "traditional" so it's not what you think of as a strawberry daiquiri etc - it was more like a martini ...and, as they warn you, it was a sneaky one.
We really enjoyed our dinner at Franklins. The “Quarantiki” Area was very nice and the kids loved it. There was sand on the ground everywhere and the kids played in it while the food was being prepared. The area was nice and clean. All of the tables were full but get there early and you can get a good shaded table. We ordered 2 appetizers and the crab dip was great and full with flavor. The spinach dip was just OK. I wouldn’t order it again. The spinach was too big and not cut up enough. And it could definitely use more creaminess and cheese. The bread that accompanied it was great though. I ordered the braised beef with grits. It was very rich and savory. Would definitely order it again. It could have used a little more sauce but it was a 9 out of 10. The chrome tacos were great as well. Hubby enjoyed them but it wasn’t filling for a big eater like him. He did say they were a little spicy because of the salsa. The catfish was good too. It was served on a bed of collard greens and rice. The sauce was a great compliment too. I prefer collard green a little more tender and a bit more salt but it was good. We ordered a lot of food and had enough to take home for leftovers. Would definitely go back again.
Waiters were subtly rude. A random guy tossed a pretzel in a bag on the table. Tables were dirty. When they cleaned they would just swipe the crumbs on the ground and they quickly placed napkins on top of the Clorox now that I’m looking at it, my napkin has some peanut butter on it. It lowkey felt like I was getting food from a truck and eating outside even though I’m not. Because I’m inside. An establishment. With tables. 2 stars though because though because the food was alright. They should hire someone else to hire staff because the people getting these jobs gotta have connections or something. Sending prayers and love.
This is officially the largest Artichoke Dip I have ever gotten in my life, and it was worth every bite. The in house root beer is really good, and the fish and chips are my friend’s favorite. They also happen to have a really good selection of board games downstairs!!
I had dinner at this location with a friend last week. The food was very good, we came specifically to try the spinach dip and it did not disappoint. For my entree I had the quinoa and spinach bowl which was absolutely amazing I am still thinking about it. The service could have been better, we saw our server maybe three times throughout dinner and it seemed like he really disliked his job which I can understand but as a customer it made our experience a little underwhelming. The restaurant was also very loud with no music playing which was interesting to say the least. The vibe of the restaurant though was very interesting my friend and I described it as “hipster Cracker Barrel with a touch of cultural appropriation.” Overall it certainly wasn’t a bad experience but it definitely could have been better. Regardless I would and likely will come again
Going to Franklins is always a fun experience. The food and brews are always great, with reasonable prices and food that’s freshly made in house with lots of flavor. The gift show is an experience in and of itself that really makes the visit unique though— imagine a more local version of a Cracker Barrel gift shop with better prices and variety and something for everyone. They have the most random things you could imagine, but it’s always worth it.
