The Science and Technology room is amazing. My 4 year old built and launched an air powered car and rocket. We played with sand to build a topology map with a projector and computer. They have a maker studio and a ton of cool engaging stations. There were about 30 kids and 20 parents today and there was a birthday party held in the birthday room. My son and I had a blast.
Such a great time for all ages. There was so much space to explore, tons to look at, and plenty of nostalgia for everyone. The way some of the displays are set up is so creative, & you can interact with most everything in the museum. Highly recommended.
Came here for a field trip. Kids were disappointed. So many of the science stations were worn out or not working. There's not much exciting stuff to do. They should have a package deal with the video game museum and train area also. A lot of kiddos got bummed out they couldn't do into those areas too.. Definitely NOT worth $10. I paid extra to take my kiddos into the video game museum, and it was way better. There are so many more interactive things for them to do. That was worth $12. But the science area was a huge disappointment...
This was a private collection that was donated to traintopia. It is one of the largest model train layouts I've ever seen and very beautifully done. The model train collection is only part of the displays by traintopa. They have a large collection of real engines and cars. Many of which have either been restored are in the process of being restored. One of the most interesting is a large steam engine. Well worth the trip to see. Make sure you check the schedule for the tours of the large engines. Also check the weather as the large equipment is outside.
In my opinion, it is not worth the price. Everything was very worn out and dirty and unorganized. Their staff did nothing to maintain any sort of order/cleanliness throughout the day. For instance, the H.E.B toddler play store area had been absolutely ransacked, and most of the toys were very dirty, broken, and 85% were on the floor. It was not in any way playable for our daughter. Would not recommend.
Nice place filled with different options for family friendly exhibits and experiences! National video game museum, train topia and other options are available within the discovery center.
I go here to visit the National Videogame Museum. It is a really fun and very interactive experience that the whole family can enjoy. It's a nostalgic trip down memory lane for us 70s, 80s and 90s kids who grew up with a lot of these games. I can't recommend it enough.
Artrageous It is amazing~~~~ Local artists have solo exhibition. Also there are many group exhibitions.
The volunteers that helped me set up our party room were really good sports. They were willing to help me blow up a gazillion balloons for these balloon arches that I purchased, not realizing how complicated they were to set up. The space wasn't entirely clean. There was some leftover bits of food on some of the table covers. Also it just would have been nice for the money paid for the party package to include bottled water or something. Couple of two litter bottles or something. 15 minutes it's not a lot of time to set up if you have a lot of decorations. So you're going to want to make sure you're on time, and that you don't have a lot of balloons to blow up or something. We chose the rocket activity. There was an in-room activity, and then an activity outside of the room. It was a lot of herding cats and shuffling back and forth. Still this birthday party package was one of the least expensive of all the places that I called. The activities in the general play area are pretty cool and I felt that kids were engaged there
Super recommended, it's nice and fun.
