Description

The Gettysburg Heritage Center, focuses on the town of Gettysburg and civilians who called it home - before, during and after the pivotal Civil War Battle of Gettysburg. Utilizing various historical documents, artifacts, interactive displays and 3-D photography, visitors actively learn about ordinary people doing extraordinary things at a difficult time in our nation's history.

The museum tour concludes with the Civil War Trust's award-winning movie, "Gettysburg: An Animated Map". Before venturing out onto the battlefield, this 20 minute program offers a great orientation and overview of the three-day battle. Entertaining to both the first time visitor, or Civil War enthusiast who visits multiple times a year!

In addition to the museum, most weekends, from April through November, Living History Camps are set up on the front lawn of the museum. Union and Confederate soldiers set up camp, and offer visitors demonstrations about weapons, camp life, and more! These camps are free and open to the public! Visit our website for a complete listing of dates!

Located in the lobby of the Heritage Center is one of Gettysburg's largest and finest gift shops. Specializing in apparel, books, gifts, replica weapons, collectibles, home decor, games, toys, and more!

Looking to see the battlefield in a unique way? The Heritage Center can help you book your bus tours, including History Nerds tours, carriage rides and horseback tours, iPad tours, double decker buses, CD car tours, and more!

Conveniently located on Steinwehr Avenue, near hotels, including the brand new Best Western Gettysburg, and restaurants such as Appalachian Brewing Co. Plenty of parking! The perfect place for your family to start its Gettysburg vacation!
