The Gettysburg Heritage Center, focuses on the town of Gettysburg and civilians who called it home - before, during and after the pivotal Civil War Battle of Gettysburg. Utilizing various historical documents, artifacts, interactive displays and 3-D photography, visitors actively learn about ordinary people doing extraordinary things at a difficult time in our nation's history.
The museum tour concludes with the Civil War Trust's award-winning movie, "Gettysburg: An Animated Map". Before venturing out onto the battlefield, this 20 minute program offers a great orientation and overview of the three-day battle. Entertaining to both the first time visitor, or Civil War enthusiast who visits multiple times a year!
In addition to the museum, most weekends, from April through November, Living History Camps are set up on the front lawn of the museum. Union and Confederate soldiers set up camp, and offer visitors demonstrations about weapons, camp life, and more! These camps are free and open to the public! Visit our website for a complete listing of dates!
