Good for what it is: a small boat dock and ramp to Turkey Creek with captain’s house, playground, and bathrooms. Limited parking, especially on busy weekends. Bordered to the north by the train tracks trains being so close can be a pro or a con... We enjoy visiting this spot to look for wildlife. Sometimes we are rewarded with nothing, and sometimes we see dolphins, manatees, turtles, great blue herons, egrets, cormorants, ospreys, and pelicans. Boat dock - single ramp with a rather tight turn-around for vehicles & trailers. Also larger fishing pier with a picnic table. I’m not a boater so I don’t know much about it, but I see lots of kayaks, canoes, and boats of various sizes being launched from here. There are frequently people fishing here, but we usually don’t see them catch anything and everyone I’ve asked admits to mediocre catches at best. We do often see mullet jumping out of the water though. Playground - wood chip base. A few swings and one structure with slides, climbing walls, fireman’s pole, ladder, ramps. Sturdy and newer erected in the last year or two. Probably best for 5-12yr olds but could be used by all ages, the youngest with supervision. Ramada - covered picnic area with about 8 long tables and a couple grills. Next to the playground and a large open field. Captain’s House - a meeting house that can be reserved. We’ve seen it used for everything from birthday parties and weddings to Meals on Wheels pickups and band practices.
On Easter Sunday we launched our kayaks from the paved boat ramp. there was a steady stream of people launching boats, kayaks, paddle boards on the late Sunday morning. The covered pavilion had bathrooms that were open, and clean. Paddled up to Turkey creek. Fairly good signage up river to keep you going in the right direction. Go by some homes and then wilderness areas. Saw manatees, birds, the begging turtles in Turkey creek. Can get windy near the dock.
This location is very peaceful. I visited here with my mother in law and fiance. Extremely beautiful, I was hoping to see some friendly manatees. Maybe next time! Definitely a nice place to sit down for lunch.
So much fun. Great for small kids. Boat launch area. Kayak launch area. Saw very large fish and turtles from docks. Florida at it's best.
Wonderful park with a great, big boat launch. It’s awesome to stand on the dock and look at the river and the wildlife. There is also a building that can be rented for events, a pavilion, and a great playground. The location is great with close proximity to the city and Turtle Creek Sanctuary.
The playground is relatively new! Lots of open grass areas to let the kids run. Has picnic tablets. There were bathrooms and a water fountain. The docks are fun for the kids. I used to see manatees here as a kid, but didn't see any this time. Restrooms: Bathrooms were pretty clean
Small park with boat ramp, pier, and building to rent for parties. Great views and one of the best local spots to see Manatees.
Beautiful open park, quiet and peaceful. Kids playground, small boat ramp, covered picnic area and place to cookout.
One of my favorite parks due to how beautiful it is at sunset! If you're lucky you can catch a glimpse of a dolphin or a manatee or even the occasional gator! Watch your step when walking around in the grass though because there are lots of Gopher Tortoise burrows. It has a place called the Captain's House to host events at and a beautiful playground for the kids.
Great place to launch our kayaks for a relaxing trip into turkey Creek! Saw plenty of manatees and even a few Gators!
