I paid for my daughter head stone and when I received the first proof they made a mistake , so they sent it back for correction. I called to check on the second proof left messages , upon messages still no response from Michelle Baldwin and it took months ! I had finally talked to her after Months of leaving messages . After adding to my anguish of loosing my only daughter, I ask to have my case turn over to someone else. Now very week after the 8-12 wks. if making the headstone they were supposed to call me when they going to lay it . I called every damm week in June 2023 every Damm time their receptionist said no , not yet. So when I called Saturday , July1,2023 the receptionist check and said that yes it was laid . When I asked her when did they lay it down , her response was June 14,2023 !!!! I was so damm mad . I ask her why nobody from there call me ? She said no one never called you ? Hell no , and I had been calling every week last month to be told no not yet !!!! Graceland Cemetery and Michelle Baldwin is so damm UNPROFESSIONAL, DISRESPECTFUL, LIARS , and UNORGANIZED!!!!! CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILL ARE TERRIBLE!!! NEW MANAGEMENT IS TRULY NEEDED …… FACTS
I love coming out here to see my family i love their help for that Thank You for helping others
My Father passed away and we buried him March of 2021. We paid for his headstone in April 2021. June of 2021, we still did not have his headstone. I was visiting for Father's Day from Texas and needless to say, that added even more grief to my visit. We were told it would take about 6 weeks for the install. Despite multiple phone calls, emails, etc. I was finally told the headstone had not even been ordered. I have spoken with Michelle, then Craig with many broken promises. I thought if I took it up a level and escalate things it would be resolved. I spoke with the manager; Bill 6/22/21 he stated I missed an email where he requested signatures. At this point you would think due to the issue at hand a phone call would have been made if there was no response. The last email I received indicated approval for my Dad's headstone and photo, to my knowledge this was resolved. August 12, 2021, again the order had not been placed. Fast forward it is October 2021, my Sister received a call stating our Dad's headstone was in and we would be notified once installed. Yesterday a family member went to visit my Dad's resting place and found the headstone had been placed however, no picture on the headstone. At this point I'm not even sure it's the right headstone. No one called to tell us it was installed, I'm quite sure that's because they knew it was incomplete. After all the back and fourth we are still grieving, with more added stress, talk about heartache! Dad's birthday is October 18th and we were finally at peace to know his resting place was in order, so we thought! I am in Texas and unable to deal with this face to face, our family is absolutely tired of dealing with not being able to finalize this in peace. I am not not sure what the next step will be, but at this point the frustrations are high! You may want to re-think this as a comforting place for your loved one, we have had nothing but grief just laying my Dad to rest in this cemetery. I know this is a business and you have many people being buried, at some point someone within your establishment should be professional enough to make sure issues are completely resolved! This place is in great disrepair with Graves being piled too close to one another, ponding water with ducks swimming on graves, Graves not covered with sod, headstones covered with grass and weeds in soil on newly dug graves. Yet they focus on trivia things as to what momentous you can reasonably put on sites to honor loved ones. Also, since this is a majority "Minority" resting place, this is a concern. Everyone deserves respect and when they transition it should be no different. They seem to think they have a monopoly and perhaps they do..but people wake up as there are laws as to how areas are to be maintained. This place needs to do better and not assume it's ok to be disrespectful to people's family and friends.
They never make follow-up calls to keep you informed about your loved ones final funeral arrangements have been completed. I was told I would receive a phone call when their headstone was placed. Never got that call had to make numerous phone calls and only after making a trip to the cemetery did i get answers on the status of everything.
My mom was buried in June. June 16th, her head plate for her part in the wall was never order because they placed her file in unfinished business file.it was payed in full before her burial. After asking to be compensated for the delay, Mr.J Tatum promised he would take care of the oder of the vase we later wanted to be place on them. Now at the end if October they won't pay for nor going at least half for vase. Poor business ethic. Someone should've compensate the family. Next person will be buried somewhere else.
My father, uncle, and grandparents are buried here as well as other family members. The graves are well kept as it most of the cemetery. When I requested help in finding a certain grave, the cemetery staff were very courteous and helpful. My only complaint to keep this from a five star review is that the roads in the cemetery have some large potholes in several areas that almost ruined our vehicle as we were attempting to navigate the cemetery according to the map. I hope something can be done about that.

If I could put a zero I would. They have wreaths advertised on their website for sale and I purchased one for my aunt's ash internment on December 1. I was told one hour before the service that they are 'holiday wreaths not burial wreaths and our website may not say that they will be placed in early December it doesn't say they will be placed immediately either'. What a heartless management team to give such a lame answer to a grieving family who cannot travel for the service. Footnote: When Mom called to request a reimbursement for the wreath which the website states are 'now available', the cemetery manager told her I was unprofessional and asked her if she would like to hear my VM. What kind of person does this to a grieving family? Was I professional? No. I was angry and let it be known. When people are grieving the emotions run high and finding out that the cemetery would not accommodate a wreath for my aunt's ceremony was very upsetting. Just be aware that if you leave a VM for the manager he may play it for others to hear. What a guy - he's obviously in the wrong field.
Being in a cemetery business it's not as easy as people assume. While dealing with all different types of names, same names, title 19, out of pocket cost, grieving families, all the stresses of losing a loved one can make an experience as this one unbearable. A cemetery can only be as efficient when the correct information is given. The people that are strong enough to handle each and every sensitive situation that walks in the door know the questions to ask; to make the hardship of the experience a little easier to bear. Mistakes will happen. People are human. It's the people who are willing to take the heat and try their hardest to correct it to make it right. Will it always help? No. Will it be a forgive and forget? No. But understand that having people that tell the truth and communicate their thoughts and feelings rather than create and falsify information is the way to go about it. We are all human and if a business is big enough to admit when there was a flaw or mistake and are willing to do what they can to correct it is worth 5 stars in my book. You do right by the families. That's what we do in this business. It may not happen overnight but it will happen. "The truth will prevail, and only the truth."
