The historical aspect of this cemetery is it’s uniqueness. In that respect, I wish they would build a fence to protect its deceased and potential vandalism. Someone should also repave it’s walkways and roads. I went there today and had to drive 5mph to avoid dips and crater like potholes. It looks very deserted and sad. It needs better maintenance.
I was looking for a couple of my ancestors graves. One grave was an unmarked grave. I noticed a couple of men working so I asked them for assistance. They helped me locate both graves after letting me look though a couple books they had dating back to 1910. How interesting was that??? They were extremely helpful and understanding. By the end of the visit I knew their names. A big thank you from the bottom of my heart to Mark, Rick and Cleo!
I lived in the area back in 1995 and I only lived a block away I always drove pass this historic cemetery and admired the headstones but it really saddened me because the up keep is sickening I'm like where is the fence seems like no one cares it's very sad to have to visualize how it use to look back in the 1800's I know it was beautiful and the up keep was well maintained I would love to contact the state and demand answers as to why this beautiful historic cemetery has been neglected very sad to see Milwaukee going down hill!
It was clean and somewhat manured. But the roads and are rocky/dirt messy when it's wet
This is a shamefully poorly maintained park of some of Milwaukee's founders and Union soldiers. Just a shamefully poorly protected or maintained historical cemetery. It should have a proper fence.
This place is very creepy, and not just because its a cemetery. No gates to keep people out, and it honestly looks abandoned.
