Breakfast Done Right
Highland morning is proud to be family owned and operated right in the middle of the highlands. July 2016 we are so excited to announce we’re opening a second location in the hood of Saint Matthews. The idea was born as an idea to bring value and quality to Louisville’s most vibrant area with a truly unique upscale breakfast and lunch experience. In a melting pot of culinary options such as Louisville’s restaurant industry offers, the challenge was to offer something that differentiated Highland Morning from the rest. And, it gave the Coe family the chance to confirm what they suspected all along. First, that good breakfast…really good breakfast was hard to find. Second, that breakfast food has powerful intangible qualities that elicit feelings of comfort, warmth and well-being for many people. And, that there was a strong demand in the marketplace for the kind of authentic, hand-crafted, fresh recipes that customers love to eat, but seldom cook for themselves. Encouraged by the enthusiasm of friends and other fellow self proclaimed breakfast champions – and armed with an intense love of good food. The founders teamed up with a talented chef. Then, they got to work on the careful trial-and-error process that involved hundreds of recipes and scores of tasters who all helped to form our Louisville proud independent restaurant. Come join the Highland Morning Family today for breakfast or lunch done right!

I always like to get a half order of biscuits & gravy to start. Food is always delicious & quick! You can also order a half order of pancakes, if there's one you wanna try because they are huge! Half order just comes with the 1 vs. 2. Bloody Mary was astounding, loved the seasoning on the rim of the glass, also doesn't hurt to have a slice of bacon in it either
Ordered steak n egg meals it’s nice you can substitute your bread in the meal we chose French toast and sausage and biscuits. Just wish they had some franks red hot other than that very fulfilling and inexpensive brunch.Food: 4/5
Hostess was very nice our server wasn't very friendly she seemed stressed and unhappy. Food was good but a little pricey for side potatoes. Had loaded baked potato omelette, crab cake eggs Benedict, loaded burrito and wake me up omelet
I ordered a build your own omlette with spinach, mushroom and sausage with a side of jalapeños. It came with grits small portion and a HUGE pancake. Flavorful, delicious, great attentive and friendly customer service. I'd recommend to any and everyone! ** update** Had to update my review. I took a group of out of out of town guest here because my first experience was so great. I ordered the shrimp and grits and they were horrible. The shrimp had gone bad and had that 'taste' the smell was masked a little by the seasoning but it was very evident it was bad. It was close to closing so maybe it sat out too long. The grits were ok but at that point I didn't want anything else. My guest were shocked I took them to such a subpar place because let's face it....big girls usually know a good place to eat. Sadly I will not return nor recommend this place. Whatever was working last year. Please get back to that. Parking: Parking could be rough on the busier days. There's just street parking and a a parking lot shared by several businesses. 20 spaces at best.
Not really satisfied yet. My BLT was totally burnt toast on the bottom. I couldn't believe it. Service was good. Lucy was great. I keep trying . Maybe next time.
The food presentation was on point. The food lacks texture and taste. Was not happy that for $5 the bacon brought to our table was cold and had a lot of grill degree on it. The French toast looked amazing but the filling made it taste like you eating raw dough. The server was busy, and refills were slow. KidsFood: 2/5
Great spot for a good breakfast. A bit on the pricey side, but that’s expected for the rising food costs. Wife had the Belgian waffles and a side of bacon. She eats them with just whipped cream, which the waiter was more than welcome to bring an entire cab out for us. Personally I thought they were very plain, but I usually eat them with butter and syrup, not just whipped cream like she does. I got the strawberry pancakes. They were very overdone for pancakes, and some of them started to get a burnt flavor at certain points. They could also use more of the strawberry syrup and more fresh strawberries on top. However, I would gladly order them again.
Stopped in to treat my self to a solo birthday breakfast. I was greeted as soon as i stepped into the restsraunt and promptly seated. My waitress was very courteous and thoughtful. Traditional home cooked breakfast and brunch menu. I ordered the"big" pancakes they were delicious and big enough for two people so was the single order of bacon. I will definetly be back!
There are not many places on Louisville that remind me of being back home in New England but Highland Morning is very close. They have a great selection for everyone and staff are always friendly.Food: 5/5
Excellent breakfast. I had a biscuits and Gravy omelette with Skillet potatoes. Hubby had a wake me up omelette with skillet potatoes. Both were fantastic. The View, at first seem to be looking at a boring building across the street, also afforded a view of the trains going by. I was surprised by the charge for the skillet potatoes, not knowing that they were a la carte. Otherwise fantastic.
