First time at this beautiful estate the last week of April with a colleague - I'm from KC and he's from Charlotte. Venue: The ambiance, landscaping, decor, interior/exterior design, is truly pristine and had a great attention to detail - all while still keeping the vintage or original feel of the house/mansion. The landscaping and large trees are wonderful to look at whether having a drink or dining outside. Luckily for us, they had just completed their new, great bar area inside. The custom design and features are very, very cool and inviting. This site is a perfect fit for so many categories: happy hour, date night, wedding/reception, clients, work team "get together". Food: APP: We shared the jumbo shrimp cocktail They didn't skimp or exaggerate on the word "Jumbo" and the homemade cocktail sauce had spice and wonderful flavors Dinner: We both got the same thing - Scallops U10 - which was very good, flavorful, light - but filling. The glaze and drizzle was a perfect pair with the scallops and quinoa. Unfortunately, our own fault, we got the same thing, instead of trying multiple/sharing multiple dishes. Staff: The head bartender is an artist to say the least and I realize the label of "artist" is thrown around often. He/they have their own custom made cocktails but his creative and experienced mind allows him to make custom made drinks based on preferences: He'll ask: what kind of liqueur, flavors, smokey, sweet/spicy, etc... Wonderful bar area for date night or happy hour with friends for custom made drinks and a performance of delivering said drinks. Unfortunately, I only have pics from their custom version and presentation of their smokey old fashion. Attached. The owner and wait staff were all very kind, inviting, prompt, knowledgeable, and happy to share the history of the property. The venue, food, staff, and drinks/bartender we're all very impeccable and I hope to return every quarter when I visit Charlotte for work. I highly, highly recommend!!!
Went for the first time with a dinner reservation as part of the Queen's Feast, and because reservation fell on the 12th which happened to be part of their Valentine's day dates, we ended paying $40 a person instead of $30 for the same dish offerings. The entree' portions were a little on the small side and not enough when you're quite hungry, but on the plus side, they were delish. I was skeptical about the meatloaf because it came with grits, but I was immensely surprised at how good it was. Loved the sweet potato cornbread. The chocolate mousse torte was dense and so rich. Not for someone who don't like sweets too much. For Rose' wine lover, the AIX Rose' had a more white wine flavor to it. Overall, it was a great experience. Christine, our server was wonderful.
Tl;dr: glad I went. Don't see a reason for us to go back tbh. A $128 tab for 2 entrees of grits and meat + 2 cocktails seemed a bit overpriced for my taste. Hunters House is absolutely beautiful. Learned a little history of the place I live in and had a good dining experience. Glad we finally got a chance to come check it out. Food: ordered scallop & grits and the meat loaf. It was tasty but wasn't mind blowing or the best I've ever had. By no stretch of my imagination was the scallop and grits worth $44 but that's with my limited of experience of never having scallops. Out of the two, the meatloaf was def better for me. Had my wife finished her plate, I'd have left hungry. Lucky for me she didnt We also left and had to get dessert on our own? Didn't see anything on the menu. Staff: super nice and accommodating. We had Lawrence, who was on his first run as a waiter, from back of house. He was great and we were pleased with his knowledge and service. Cocktails: Ordered Smoked Old Fashioned and Georgia Derby. They were ok. Again, not the best I've ever had, but I was satisfied. The hand cut ice was a nice touch. Smoke smelled delicious. Ambiance: 10/10 all day. Beautiful decor, music to match, and perfect lighting. The spot to go if you want to dress up and spend some $$. Kid-friendliness: They accommodated us with our 8 month old Parking: Take a detour around the back of the house because of construction. Walk through the garden. Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair ramp on site
This is an absolute GEM in Huntersville!!! The handcrafted drinks will simply blow you away, tipped with fresh cut flowers. The food was delicious and the service was top tier. Very impressed!!! The lawn area is so beautiful.
We had an amasing experience here! We came to celebrate a birthday and had no idea that there would be such personal touches to our dinner and cocktails. They really went above and beyond to make the experience special and unique.
Amazing night at the newly renovated bar! The bartenders were great. Drinks were delicious and had beautiful presentations.
Had a great dinner with a friend here last night, and it happened to be the first night of Queen's Feast. Service was friendly and excellent--even the owner came to say hello. Food was tasty, and the surroundings are beautiful. A couple of recommendations: For the cocktails, either use smaller ice cubes I know the big ones are in style or only 1 large cube, or bigger glasses. Please mention on your menu that your smoked salmon is hot smoked, which I don't care for. It wasn't bad so I ate it but I wouldn't have ordered it if I had known it wasn't the lox-style. Another diner in the same room overheard us talking about it and agreed. Or better yet, make the lox style or gravlax. Now that I could get excited about! Can't wait for warmer weather so the I can spend some time in the gardens or the front porch. Can't believe I've never been here before!
Let me start out by saying it's a STUNNING venue packed with rich history. Absolutely incredible place from the flower/food/herb gardens out back to the leopard print walls..... this, is a Cool place. Sit at the bar, it is quite surprising . Craft cocktails made to YOUR specifications and quite a large selection of things. Get the grits, you can tell they're slow cooked, the andouillie sausage takes me away to New Orleans .. may be a small menu, but it's comfort food done well.
Old farm house turned quant restaurant with awesome speak easy style cocktail bar. The small menu changes often and is based off what is in season. You must go to the bar and give them the flavor palette you are in the mood for, and watch as the craft the best cocktail to match. Staff is very knowledgeable and super friendly.Food: 5/5
Fantastic restaurant with a very attentive staff and excellent bartenders. Great place for a date night or catching up with friends. Definitely will be going back.
