Jakara has a BS in sports management from the University of Illinois - Champaign Urbana. She later discovered counseling was a better fit for her as she went on to complete her MA in marriage and family counseling from Governors State University. She is a licensed professional counselor and national certified counselor. Jakara utilizes solution focused therapy, emotional focused therapy, and attachment theory.
Her experience includes working with court mandated clients and families. She provides advocacy services for minor children. She incorporates play therapy and takes special interest in biracial identity development using post modern treatment. Jakara enjoys changing the color of her hair and cuddling with her dog, a Boxer American Bulldog mix.
