This business commits fraud and be cautious when you pay out of pocket or thru insurance. They were suppose to call when a “special ordered” spacer came in, which never happened and they refused to service. They do not answer their calls and they do not follow up with clients post surgery. Terrible business practices and I will be filing a complaint with board and insurance.
Just had the worst experience today with Dr. Martin and her team, more so her because she’s supposed to “lead” and be an example. Went in for a standard visit with my 3 year old son, it was not our first visit. Today the way she spoke to me, was blatantly rude, condescending and unwarranted. She made a statement in regards to my sons teeth to indicate that his teeth aren’t being brushed. We take our kids and ourselves to the dentist’s office receive a service to better our health, not to be degraded in any form. My son is on the spectrum and it’s hard to do certain things, brushing his teeth is one; knowing that, I can accept any feedback you provide me to better his health——-but it’s a right way to do things and it’s a wrong way to do things, and today EVERYTHING was done wrong. Dr. Martin: We suggest parents assist their child w/brushing their teeth up until they’re 8-9. Me: We brush his teeth with him twice a day. When I responded to Dr. Martin, I want you all to know she walked off without responding to me. Today she was rude, disrespectful and loudly condescending in every aspect. Needless to say, I’ll find another dentist for my son. *If you have a child on the spectrum, autistic or with any other developmental delays, I would highly suggest you look elsewhere also.
Let me just start off by saying that I love Kids@Heart Pediatric Dentistry they went above and beyond for my child’s needs. When I walked in I was greeted by the receptionist with enthusiastic energy. It all starts in the front! The wait time wasn’t longer than 5 minutes before my child was called to the back his cleaning. During the appointment the assistant asked if I had any questions or concerns for the appointment which was great. After completing the cleaning the assistant informed me that Dr. Martin would be with us shortly. While waiting the assistant asked if my child wanted any stickers and made sure they had a show to watch on tv. When Dr. Martin came in she greeted me along with my child and made the visit very pleasant. My child left cavity free I would highly recommend Dr.Martin and her staff if you’re looking for a pediatric dental office in the DFW area. We will definitely be returning in 6 months!!
Horrible service, I tried them two times with my son and it was a very bad experience both times, the first time everything was going smooth until it came to discussing treatment plan, my son needed a extraction and a crown along with a other small cavity fillings, apparently they only use one form of anesthesia and if you don’t have Medicaid it will run you about $1000 out of pocket which seems insane for a tooth that will fall out in a less than 2 years. I asked if there was another alternative anesthesia we do or if we could be referred to another clinic, because unfortunately I did not have $1300 at the moment for my sons treatment they said no they don’t refer out and they don’t use other anesthesia practices, while I was waiting for a second opinion appointment my son complained about one of his teeth that was discussed on the treatment plan so I thought let me take him and see if we can just take care of that one tooth that is hurting and I ended up leaving with a new treatment plan that was now $1800, because they added a charge of a non cooperative child my son never resisted or flinched while the Dr did her exam and cleaning, that charge was ridiculous, at the end of the visit I asked if I could please get my sons medical records because I was definitely not coming back, I was told it was a $50 fee I agreed and paid, they waited until I paid to tell me my medical records could take up to 30 days to be sent to me, and the lady that was “helping” me gave me a smirk after she saw how frustrated I was. Terrible service! All this place is just money hungry I ended up going to another pediatric dentist office same treatment plan but only paid $395 for everything my son needed, they had excellent customer care service compared to this place! AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST.
Just had the worst most embarrassing experience at Kids @ Heart. It was very surprising being that this was not my first time there. My first experience was cool, my 7 year old got a tooth extracted. This time not so well. Ms. Martin who is the pediatric dentist there was very rude and in personable today. We went in for a consultation because it has been a couple of years since we were patients. After looking into my daughter’s mouth and taking her back for x-rays, she failed to come over and consult with me about my daughter’s prognosis. My daughter and I waited and watched her attend to other patients without following up with us about her findings. She never said she would be with us in a second. She never looked over at us to assure us that she hadn’t forgot us. She just kept attending to other patients. The whole interaction made me feel as though she didn’t care about my business and very uncomfortable. She don’t ever have to worry about me coming back or referring her services. I love to support black owned business, but not if you don’t want my business. If I could give her 0 stars I would do just that.
Our experience was pretty bad. Kids at heart’s bedside manner was lacking and the lip and tongue release procedure frenectomy performed on my child was incomplete. While trying to schedule the first appointment/consultation for my infant daughter’s lip and tongue tie, it took several tries to reach them. My wife called a few times, left a voicemail and a message on the website. No one replied. She called 4 days later and when she inquired about the missed calls and message, the person over the phone said they were “getting ready to call.” This should have been a red flag to us, but we wanted to support and give them a chance. The day of the consultation/evaluation, Dr. Martin was very nice and professional. That is the only reason they are getting at least 1 star. The procedure didn’t go well though. Dr. Martin didn’t release all of the lip and tongue tie. We had to go to another pediatric dentist to evaluate and possibly revise/correct the incomplete job. As you can imagine this is pretty disappointing especially with an infant who is only 6 weeks old. Additionally, following the frenectomy, the staff didn’t give us any after/wound care instructions about how to properly care for the mouth and they didn’t give us instructions on pain management for our baby. They said they’ll send exercise videos by the end of the day of the procedure, but they took a whole day to send something over we had to call/text them to remind them. When we received the documents and video, it was from another pediatric dentistry office with their letterhead. The video was also from another dentist office. The wound care instructions were vastly different than what Dr. Martin had verbally communicated the day of our consultation/evaluation. She said to do exercises 3 times a day, but the paperwork mentioned every 4 hours. The document also mentioned a Tylenol regimen before and after the procedure. We knew of no such thing. Dr. Martin told us to call our doctor for instructions on administering Tylenol after the procedure. My wife had to specifically ask questions before we left the facility after the procedure and it just seemed like all they cared about was whether our daughter took her bottle before moving on to the next patient. Once she did take her bottle, Dr. Martin came in the room and my wife asked for the next steps. They said that they’ll set up follow up appointments 1 week and a month out via text. Each time we called them on the phone they sounded like we annoyed them and rushed us off the phone. We had to call our pediatrician office for help on what to expect pain wise. My wife corresponded with someone from kids at heart office via text about whether the wound was healing properly and after that text response, we haven’t heard anything from Kids at heart. We were told by our lactation consultant not to go back. It has been 2 weeks and we STILL have yet to receive a followup call or text from the office. Needless to say, we will not be returning, but we wanted to prevent this from happening to another family. The confusion, and time and money wasted don’t even compare to the pain our infant child will have to endure by having a revision procedure. Please reconsider if you plan on having your child get a lip/tongue release at Kids at Heart. It is not worth it and better to have the procedure done correctly the first time elsewhere.
I’ve been coming here for years and now I have to go somewhere else. My autistic son ate half a pop tart without me knowing and I told the office. I found out after it was too late. First they just extended the wait and I thought that was fair. Then, they called me back about 30 minutes later and changed their minds. I already paid for the procedure because my son has to be asleep for the procedure. Now I’m stuck with a $300 charge from the office and another $150 from the doctor. The office manager refuses to drop the charge on her end even though I did the right thing. I guess it was either save my son or have a risky procedure. I did the right thing but the office manager punished me for it. Hopefully they will do the right thing and send my sons X-rays over to the new provider. I’ll let the public know what happens next.
My experience at Kids @ Heart Dentistry, was by far the best experience I’ve ever had. Dr.Martin and her staff were welcoming and very professional as it was my daughter’s first time attending the dentist. It was clear that the staff and Dr.Martin was very knowledgeable and passionate about their jobs and this will be our choice of dental care! Definitely recommend 10/10!
Dr. Martin has been my son’s dentist since he was an infant. He’s on the autism spectrum. For the past 7 years, she’s been nothing short of amazing with him and his needs. We feel confident in her and the awesome Kids@Heart staff!!
My child has special needs and doesn’t like going to the dentist. This was the first office he was comfortable at. The doctor was very caring and helpful making it easy for him in a dental office setting. I highly recommend her office and staff! Plus they have great music and tvs for the children to watch while they get their teeth cleaned.
