Students Promoting Acts of Recycling at Kutztown
SPARK program has been created and partnered with NORESCO and a waste/recycling co. to provide resources for students to create and live in a sustainable environment while attending Kutztown University.
A. To educate and inform students and staff about the importance of a sustainable lifestyle and make lasting proactive changes in the residence hall environment.
B. Is dedicated to making the residence halls a more environmentally friendly community. The committee incorporates many aspects of sustainability including recycling, environmentally friendly focused programing and education awareness.
C. To foster sustainability awareness in our living and learning communities. The committee works closely with resident students to institute sustainability initiatives such as: in-room recycling, energy and water conservation, as well as, recycling awareness during the academic year.
D. To inform students in being more aware of their residence hall environment by developing green programs which encourage pride and responsibility in the residence halls such as:
-To increase student awareness of vandalism/trash/waste in residential areas
and how residents are held responsible.
-To increase residence ownership of creating sustainable residence hall
spaces.
-To increase communication between the HRL&DS staff (Central
Office/AC/RC/CA/DR’s), RHA, Hall Councils, NRHH, custodial staff and most
importantly students.
Hall Council Meetings: Tuesdays at 9:30 p.m. in every Residence Hall.
SPARK general board Meetings: Thursdays at 6pm in Dixon Conference Room.
