The Ohio Valley railroad historical foundation Inc. has many goals, such as to create a museum in Oldham County that will contain; Model trains, railroad artifacts and a library full of memories and artifacts.
Oldham County is the perfect setting for a railroad museum. The train has been the County’s major focus since the mid-1800’s. LaGrange in Oldham County, KY is the only one in the USA that has a train that runs directly on Main Street. Passenger trains and freight trains have passed through Oldham County for almost 150 years!
The Ohio Valley Railroad Historical Foundation is dedicated to preserving this history. It intends to do this in four ways:
I. We will maintain a library of books, pictures and films on railroading in the Ohio Valley.
II. We will conduct seminars and instructional talks on the history of railroading in the Ohio Valley.
III. With several different scales of train railroad layouts in this museum, we will promote an interest in model railroading and railroading in general.
IV. We also provide information on train safety through Operation Lifesaver instructed by Jerry Wright who formally was with CSX Railroad.
