LASA is an association of Latin Students who strive to share their various ethnic cultures with the members of the university and community.
Latin American Student Association was created to unite students of diverse Latin heritages. This organization allows Latin@s at UMass Lowell to come together and celebrate their similarities. L.A.S.A is an all-inclusive, Latino-based group dedicated to exploring all Latin@ aspects. The organization’s aim is to delve into current issues within our community as well as our rich, intricate history and our diverse global roots while embracing other cultural groups. L.A.S.A’s goal is to involve, enrich, and empower our members with skills to become active agents of positive change within their specific communities and their own lives. We do this through member meetings, community service and diverse cultural and social programming. We are interested in forming strong friendships within the association and with the other students of minority groups. We also strive to get the needs of Latin@ students heard and met by university officials through meetings and open forums. L.A.S.A is also very invested in helping the members of our communities, emphasizing the motivation of young Latin@s in college. We understand the value of the various perspectives of what members of this community have to share, and we want to hear yours! Under no circumstances will anyone be excluded from participation in activities sponsored by the Latin American Student Association for reasons of nationality, race, color, sex, and age, religious or political beliefs.

We hope that these will continue on after we leave the university, we also strive to get the needs of Latin Students heard and met by university officials through meetings and open forums. LASA is deeply interested in helping members of our surrounding communities by emphasizing the importance of the young Latin students to enter into college.
