Living Forest Oceanside Campground & RV Park

About

We LOVE Vancouver Island and want to share it with you!

Description

Welcome to the Island! There are amazing things to see and do in every direction and we hope you'll share part of your camping adventures with us. Here's a bit about our park. It's family run, and for families!

Our promise is to give you a place to find honest local information about things to see and do all over the Island, through photos, stories, maps, videos and answer your questions. We camp too and we're all in this together! We think our award winning park stands on it's own, so you won't get a 'sell job' here. Our goal is to provide you with the kind of information we look for when we're traveling and camping- just ask and we'll try to help. I'm a real person and do my best to make this a fun place to visit -- our park AND our Facebook page! - Scott of the Forest

Living Forest Oceanside Campground & RV Park is 53 natural acres of ocean, forest and river that make up this year round park. It has 300 gorgeous sites.

Our extensive site menu includes 50 amp, pull thrus, oceanside, oceanview, forested, riverside, full service, partial service or no services, 'nose in first' sites for motorhomes to take advantage of the view, wi-fi, sunny or shady sites, even blue, green or yellow sites --- OK, OK -- we can't do colours!

But you get the idea-- this is a big beautiful property with lots to do- miles of walking on our paved roads or quiet trails, bicycling, paddling, swimming in the amazing Nanaimo River, birding, basketball, bocce, games room, beach volleyball, or just enjoy a gourmet coffee or ice cream from an outdoor table with a view at the Living Forest Cafe'. We offer truly incredible camping, naturally!

If you're a tent camper, or have a small RV like a truck and camper, tent trailer, or van conversion, we have a whole section of the park set up just for you- many with water and electricity.

Very well maintained for a campground. Great bathroom facilities and not a far walk wherever you are with dish washing stations. River is gorgeous and the boat rentals are really a nice activity, but depend on the tides. Playground is great for kids, it is most metal but its got good tree coverage so even on a 30 degree day it didnt get burning hot. Games room is quite hot inside and everything is in pretty poor condition but not unusable, would benefit from some new equipment and better air flow since it does seem to be so popular. The little cafe is very basic and maybe on par with a skating rink shack but 100% of the money spent is invested back, so it makes sense to keep expenses low. No complaints there. The only thing I would mention is, no matter where you are, expect zero privacy and a lot of noise. Also it is huge, make sure you keep your map with you.
Nice place. The sea side spots our very beautiful. The upper spots are more private. It's like a provincial park but with power, water, and sewer. The best of all worlds. If you're looking for a place to party. This is NOT your spot. If you're looking for a quiet, respectful spot to camp and enjoy the peace and quiet. This is most definitely your spot. They have lots of spots. Lots. So call if you're close they may be able to acomidatw you for one or two nights. I recommend this camping spot.
Very well maintained campground. We had a lovely ocean view spot last week for two nights and were very impressed with the whole place.
Extremely nice, great staff. Lots of walking trails. Nice mix of private wooded sites and beautiful on the water sites. I would totally recommend this place.
Hands down the best campsite we’ve stayed at, ever. Friendly staff, meticulous and spacious sites, and amenities beyond. So happy we chose this campground and we can’t wait to come back again!
My first time here and what a wonderful campground! Didn't even know of this place, yet went down from Parksville to visit a friend. They had a reserved site with a breathtaking view! This place is super clean and has I believe over 200 sites. I want to rent camper van just to camp here!
We had a great time at the living forest. It’s a nice quiet campground. Great for kids. Less than 5 min drive from grocery and pharmacy made it super easy when we forgot things. They have flush toilets but there is only hot water in the shower building. Refilling a propane tank is fast and easy onsite and you can rent a fire ring and tank if you need.
Nice tent sites. Beautiful surroundings. Facilities needed a seriously thorough clean. All four large rubbish bins were overflowing and stank. 2 ladies showers for the whole place?! the line was so long I gave up. Bathrooms could really do with an upgrade. The lounge had a sink for doing dishes, but it felt like it hadn’t been cleaned for a long time and was very unpleasant to use. Would recommend for a one night stopover only. Hopefully you can shower elsewhere.
Awesome place to stay. They have beautiful sites that are spaced very nicely. They have plenty of washrooms situated around the campground. They also have a very clean and good priced laundromat with 6 washers and dryers that can accommodate larger loads such as comforters. The staff are also always very pleasant and always seem very happy to help the customers out.
Fantastic place to unwind in nature. I 300 sites to choose from. Restrooms, showers. Great staff and well maintained.
